This is one of the world's best hotels and it shows. The standards were extremely high as you would expect. There were also two other specific items to highlight. The receptionist (Francois) was very helpful and courteous offering us a few pointers to improve our stay. He had a very pleasant manner and a great sense of humour too. Our middle day was a birthday celebration for my wife but, also as it turned out, the birth of our second grandchild. Our breakfast waiter was so quietly and effectively attentive at all times. In sharing our happy news he additionally arranged a small cake of celebration. What we liked so much about customer service, as reflected at all times and in both these examples in particular, was its attention to detail without in any way ever feeling intrusive - that's not always an easy balance to strike. The breakfast itself was wonderful and the French toast is unbelievable. The swimming pool is a real treat and a must visit - it's hard to believe you are right at the heart of the city. The room bath and separate shower-room were both superb. We were lucky to have benefited from summer-type weather in April too, but had it been less appealing the comfort of the hotel would have still contributed to very happy memories. We stayed 2 nights and we shall remember this visit as a very special time.
