Avoid!
The stay at this hotel we very disappointing. Our room was in the basement of the hotel. This mean our view out of the window was of a extractor fan unit which was on 24/7. This mean sleeping was not easy. The beds are very old and tired looking which matched the rest of the room. There was no hair dryer, iron and even no hot water during our stay. For £100/night I would never go back to this place.

2/10 Poor

Unsafe, smelly and poor experience overall
Really unsafe rooms with wobbly staircase and bannisters. Not safe for kids or those less able. Awful smell throughout the hotel, like sewage backing up. Addition charge of £50 deposit required on check-in that won’t get refunded for 2 weeks. Witnessed 2 blazing arguments between staff and customers at reception, with staff seemingly unbothered likely due to it being a regular occurrence.

8/10 Very good

Good location
Hotel was clean and tidy but the room was a bit smelly! Had to keep the windows open to try to get the smell out, not sure if it was blocked sewers or something else. But the location was great and very handy for train home the next morning,

2/10 Poor

Never Again!!
I checked in, to be told my double room had been given to someone else. I was told I had an upgrade to a family room. This was not an upgrade!! (Now is probably the time to say I had stayed at this hotel previously and had a similar check in experience when travelling with a friend. On that occasion they had sold his room to someone else and he had to go and stay in another hotel). In the interest of second chances and the locality to Paddington I gave the hotel a second chance. When entering the room it became immediately apparent there was an issue with waste. The smell was revolting. It was late evening, and I needed my bed so I opened the windows and waited 30 mins for the smell to dissipate. After 30 mins I decided the smell was unbearable and headed to reception for a room change. At reception I was told their was nothing they could do as they were fully booked. They offered me a can of air freshener after telling me I just needed to run the water in the bathroom to get rid of the smell. Apparently, they told me, it’s normal for hotels of this age. In the interest of fairness I gave them a second chance. Their will not be a third!

Refund
It has been two weeks since I left the hotel and the deposit I paid has not yet been returned.throughout my stay , the fire alarms kept going off at unpredictable times. The night before my flight I was woken up by the fire alarm and had to evacuate the building for a false alarm around 11pm. I will really appreciate my refund as soon as possible. Thank you

Fifty for what?
On arrival was asked to provide card for £50 deposit that would be returned. This was for any damages to room? I'd be surprised if there was any chance of causing £50 in the actual room!
