Very Comfortable Rooms
Enjoyed our stay here. The hotel has a large foyer with comfortable chairs and dining areas. We arrived prior to check in and our room wasn't ready. We went off for a bite to eat. After returnIng we only waited about 15 minutes before we were advised the room was ready. Our room was 817, very quiet with a pleasant view. The king bed was so comfortable. There is a writing desk, two seats, large TV, a coffee maker and a large bathroom. The WIFI connection was fast. We had 3 meals in the hotel, two in the bar area and one upstairs on the "mezzanine" in the foyer area. All were good. The Butterscotch pudding was delicious and for lunch on our departure day we had the chicken sandwich which was amazing. The prices for meals were reasonable and service excellent. On three occasions we were waited on by Kilarny (apologies if mispelt) and he was very professional and friendly. We arranged a 5am wake up call which was promptly received. Unfortunately our 8:30 flight was cancelled overnight! We rang reception who kindly extended check out to 1 pm as we had been put on a flight after 5. The hotel is within walking distance of the museum and monument areas. Not a short walk but still achievable. If you prefer not to walk the closest subway is probably DuPont Circle or Farragut North. If you go to DuPont you will probably see 2 entrances which are blocked off. Walk further across and you will find another entrance. A great rate on Expedia allowed us a bit of luxury on a long trip.

Poor 2.0
The short is -- took over 2 1/2 hours to check in. Seems that Expedia (who are the PITS) and hotel staff couldn't figure out why the reservation change we made over a month earlier was causing a payment issue. The hotel had no management on site and Expedia had us on hold for over an hour while Kendia and Rico tried to find an Expedia Supervisor -- although unlike the hotel staff, who never even tried to contact management -- at least they tried to find their ineffective supervisor who couldn't help me and had to call Expedia corporate -- by the time they called me back it was 9:00 and my phone had died from standing (literally standing) in the lobby for almost 3 hours. Either way, Hotel wouldn't check us in unless we paid for the dates we didn't stay and expedia wouldn't release the money to either the hotel or us until 2 1/2 hours later but only for 2 days. Needless to say, missed the opening events at our child's freshman parent weekend, had to pay for a 3 night stay out of pocket when only stayed 2 nights, and Rico from expedia told us to sue them -- guess we could be there is no payment possible to change the sadness on my daughter's face for missing the first day of parents weekend for freshman. Truly a horror show of ineffective customer service by Expedia and the Hotel.

Subpar Experience
This wasn’t the greatest experience. Called ahead to ask for early check-in. They informed me possibly, just to ask when I arrived and they would let me check-in depending on if room was ready. Regular check-in time was 3pm and I arrived at 2pm. The room wasn’t ready so I waited at the hotel bar until 3pm. Went to check-in and the room still wasn’t ready. They informed me it would be ready in another 15min. I went to check-in at 3:30pm and it still wasn’t ready. Since I was already running late to plans, I had to leave my luggage with the front desk. Arrived back at 6pm to check-in (fourth attempt), room was ready but the second adjoining room that I booked was not. My friends had to wait another 30min to get in to their room. The front desk manager (Jazz) said that I could get a free bottle of wine from the mini bar in the room and apologized for the delay. He was very friendly and told me to let him know what I decided. Called down to the front desk and let them know and they said everything was taken care of. Two days later there is a charge on my card for the bottle of wine. Had to call and complain to get it credited back. The second room still had trash on the balcony from previous guests to top it off. Very frustrating experience overall and the room was average at best. Will certainly decide to stay somewhere else next time unfortunately.

Very good 8.0
Very chic
The hotel is in a good location. Walking distance from places to eat. About a 10 min walk from the metro. Valet parking was expensive $42 per day. The hotel itself looks very modern and chic. We only had breakfast in their restaurant, but it was delicious and fresh. It was about $45 for belgian waffles with bananas and whip cream and an egg wrap with nicely seasoned homemade potatoes and fresh fruits The staff was superb. Very helpful and friendly. It started from greeting us, to taking our bags from the car, attentive during breakfast all the way to check out offering to hail a cab and hold our luggage. They were great. The room was very spacious with a full kitchen, two large tv's with premium channels, two full confortable beds with lots of pillows. We got a corner room with wall to wall windows the view from the second floor to the street was beautiful. They do have block out curtains. The mini bar was stocked with beer, whiskey, wine, soda, water, cookies, candy, chips and a price list nearby. The bathroom was my favorite. It was spacious. Wall to wall mirror, L'occitane bath and body products, and a rolled up bath mat in case you need one.The water knobs in the sink turn to the right to open... a little thrown out by No bathrobes :(, but plenty of towels, a iron board and iron, umbrella and a shower cap. The two things I didn't like was the dingy smell the room had (I sprayed my perfume around the room to diffuse it) and the party at the looby around 7p

Good 6.0
The St. Gregory property is gorgeous! From the front entrance you are stunned by the carefully curated decor and attention to detail by the designers. However, upon entering my room, I noticed food on the carpet (didn’t get vacuumed after servicing the next day) and smeared, what appeared to be, jam in the bathroom sink, which also remained after “cleaning” the next day. I was facing a construction site which began the jackhammer around 7am. One afternoon, I waited 10 minutes on hold to order room service but gave up and just went downstairs to dine since it was taking more effort than room service should. The manager of the restaurant was rude and unaccomodating. Same feedback from a separate guest that I didn’t dine with but traveled with. Finally, Expedia advertised “book now, pay later” and assured me over the phone that nothing would be run/charged until my arrival, but the first night’s stay was charged before my day of travel, let alone when I arrived and the reservations manager, Kay, wasn’t the slight bit concerned after I’d called and left messages about it. She did call back, but dismissed my concern and didn’t follow up once I did reach the hotel. The friendliest persons were the front desk gentleman with a lovely accent and the doorman. Warm smiles and always ready to assist. Overall, I’d love to come back because we it’s beautiful, but only once the level of customer service and cleanliness is addressed.
