Good overall
We booked the Residences, hence the new tower adjacent to the main hotel building. It's nice, fashionable, good taste for the interior decoration of the apartments, which are very large and comfortable, and well depending on the room you have, views or not really views, mind that. Rivers of people are in this tower, and not only the hotel's rooms, because there are also private apartments. Heading down in the lift at the morning rush hour was taking a while, but they have 6 lifts to cover demand. The breakfast, served in the other building, was overcrowded, however fast service. Also forget the views to Petronas, it is now eclipsed by other buildings to the view is gone We were unfortunate with some events, but these do not scrutinise the overall rating. First, a large cockroach came through the bedroom's air-con unit. That's fine in the sense that it is almost impossible to prevent this rare cases, especially that it was floor 21. The main issue was that the electricity blew out at 1.00am, and it took them almost 2 hours to get us on another room. And once thye came up with the new room keys, the door lock was out of battery. Very disappointing to have my old parents in pyjama and all our bags and luggage that we had to repack in the darkness there in the corridor and still waiting to simply enter another room. We were upgraded to floor 29, but not apology or sorry whatsoever. While I can say this is a nice place to stay, this is also a city with a vast competence and choice

Good location, 10-15 min walk away from most shops
It was a good trip spent 7 nights, but I think staying at Park Royal, Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Furama Hotel would probably be a better choice in terms of being closer to restaurants & shops & always hop in a taxi that'll run the meter as it's most likely cheaper that way, from Dorsett Hotel to Furama should be no more than 10 RM. Dorsett Hotel was good in terms of design/decor it was up to date compared to Furama. Had a relative staying in Furama and they had a nice large family room booked with plenty of space. Breakfast was good too and is important to have because most restaurants only serve certain things in the mornings whereas in the hotel there's a variety of foods. A 5inch Petronas Towers souvenir should cost you no more than 15 RM, I purchased that from a shop near the McDonald's which is on the corner & I think everynight there's live bands that play right outside McDonald's (search Redeem Band on youtube and look for that location where it's a busy intersection and people sitting on the steps watching the band. Arab restaurants were a bit too pricy depending on what you order but I think it's not that great to what I've had here in Sydney, I recommend just sticking to food which is fried or cooked in a tandor (oven) Tandoori Chicken with bread cooked in a tandor costs around 10 RM wand that's with a drink, this restaurant was near Furama it's on the corner of the block and has a green coloured them and is elevated from street level. Batu Caves is a must see.

Non-smoking room with smoke smell
The room we were first checked in to had heavy and bad smoke smell, even though the reservation shows a non-smoking room and we had also made a request for non-smoking room to be sure! The phone in the room did not work, so we had to use our own mobile phone to call the front desk (we are from out of town, so did not have a local SIM phone card but need to use roaming on our phone to make the phone call!) Took several calls to the front desk and explained the situation again and again for 3 times in total, and also long waits, before we finally had a knock on the door by a hotel staff to check our room, and change to another one — after being in the smoke-smell room for over half an hour just to wait for hotel staff to come to change us out to another room. So this part of the booking experience was not good. When we were changed to the new room, it was finally a normal room with no smoking smell, so it was a pleasant stay from then on.

Poor 2.0
Rooms aircon and shower out of whack!
We had a load of issues when checking in. Our family room wasn't ready even when we arrive at 12.30pm and was told they are cleaning the room. We returned as appointed at 2pm, and the room is still not cleaned nor ready ! Even though we had checked in at 12.30pm. We were given room 2207, the aircon was faulty, called the operator for assistance. Took me 3 calls before 2 maintenance guys showed up, they tried to fix the aircon. I asked for the duty manager, who turned up after I called the operator 2x for the duty manager. Only when I mentioned, " Are you taking me seriously?" Then the hotel decided to act. I got back at 7pm, called the operator for duty manager, she turned up promptly and offered me a change of rooms to 2507. Aircon didn't work either. The temperature was warm and air stuffy. The maintenance crew came, looked at it, and left !! the chief said " I will speak to manager". I heard nothing backCalled the duty manager, she promised to send the maintenance guys the next morning. After 2 nights, and aircon stuffy and limping and warm, I checked out. But Suzanna and Mas who attended to me on both days are superb, the maintenance issues are beyond them, they will need to shut the room for repairs. And 2508 shower temp is uncontrollable, will scald you ! BTW, wifi died on the first day. Hotel didn't believe me when I called, and after I called the 2nd time, the reception confessed that many guests had complained, so she came with wifi dongle for the rest of our stay.

End of a Holiday
This was a three day stopover on our way home and was very restful. This was our second stay at the Dorsett Kuala Lumpur. The hotel is in a great location. An easy walk to major shopping centers and less than five minutes to the train/monorail station. The breakfast was good but busy only no bacon available. The staff were helpful. We will stay there again when in K.L. We paid for a 6pm checkout as we had a midnight flight this was good as we arrived at the airport showered and well rested for an over night flight back to Australia.
