Beautiful but not for families
Lewtrenchard Manor was absolutely stunning, however, absolutely not a place for families or infants. While we were told children must be out of the dining room by 7 (which was absolutely fine for us with a baby with an early bed time) they also would not seat us until 6 and dinner took much longer than an hour. (The food was excellent.) The staff was accommodating but quite stiff, with a few very friendly exceptions who made us feel very welcome. Heating was along the floor in our room which was dangerous for our crawling baby and towel rack was scorching. A travel cot was supplied but - as I have sadly found in many hotels across Europe and the UK - was not prepared with the correct fitted sheets and instead had a large sheet tucked around the mattress, which puts infants at risk of cot death. The location was perfect for exploring Dartmoor National Park, and again - the house and grounds are absolutely stunning and impressive and everything you’d expect from a large country house stay, as is the food. Perfect for couples. Nothing at all wrong with it - just wish I’d realized it was strictly a place for grown-ups before booking!

Stayed with my dog who has separation anxiety. They very kindly set up a table in library for dinner and breakfast so my dog could join us. Food was fabulous and we were well looked after. Hopefully be back soon

A wonderful one night stay.
What a wonderful place to stay - just sad it was only for one night as we would dearly love to have spent more time surrounded by the delightful ambience of this lovely Manor House. The house itself is charming and we received a warm welcome. The extensive gardens were a delight to walk in and the breakfast was delicious. Thank you and we hope to visit again for longer in the not too distant future.
