Maldron Hotel Newlands Cross
good value, good facilities, good sized room, etc. Unfortunately all let down by the smell of stale cigarette smoke in room 461 and in corridor. Shame.

I have stayed here a couple of times on business, please be aware there is no aircon in some/possibly all rooms, I called for a fan which I was told was on its way but never arrived, they said that they didn't have enough fans for everyone! I opened window but as hotel is by the side of a very busy motorway it was horrendous! Next time I am staying during heatwave I will be sure to prebook a fan! I complained to staff morning after who didn't seem particularly bothered!

Beware when visiting in the summer
Guests should know that even having booked a "superior" room there is NO air conditioning. Cooler, fresh air is only obtainable via the window which means being woken by workmen and traffic noises from 6.00/7.00 am. A superior room still means an old bathtub and shower combination and claustrophobic shower curtain.

Friendly reception staff Requested no cleaning of room but this was still done On my last night the neighbouring rooms were very noisey and were screaming outside my door at between 9pm and 12pm, I called reception at 10pm but the noise continued. I felt vulnerable to phoning again as it would be clear that it was me who was calling as they were right outside my door.

Too expensive for what you get
Getting to/from the city from this hotel was a complete nightmare and took an unbelievable 2 hrs by bus while really its only 20 mins away by taxi which is hugely expensive. Should just book close to the city. Too expensive hotel for what its worth. No breakfast was included and i was charged $880 for 5 nights. A rip off in my opinion.
