Dirty, old hotel with cheeky staff, go elsewhere
The location is absolutely amazing, 10 minutes walk from St. Mark's, shopping centre is all around, great restaurants and places to explore, but for the price the hotel is very noisy. There were construction or restoration works going very early in the day, old used and dirty furniture. The walls were so thin, you could here conversations through it.the breakfast is the poorest I have ever experienced.Same thing every day, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage with no ketchup, 2 types of bread and that was it. The city tax is to be paid at check out, when we got there they said we need to get to the nearest cash point which is 10 minutes walk away, but when we said we do not have time, the receptionist pulled out a card machine and took the payment. I thought the window would face the river on such a location but it faced the smallest street, with the opposite building 3 meters away, which we didn't mind at the end to seek for some quiet in that alive city. Hotel wasn't the greatest experience, you can find way cheaper places for nicer hotels but the city made up for everything, just amazing atmosphere, friendly people, very romantic sights and overall it gave us one of the best holidays ever.

Convinient for major locations in Venice
The location could not have been better. on the Grand Canal with easy access to the majority of places to visit. Outside the hotel where a number of excellent canal restaurants plus a Gondola location. The hotel made available free a water taxi to the island of Murano for glass manufacture. The hotel is fairly dated with some small rooms and needs an upgrade

Felt unwanted, disappointment
The staff here were very rude and unhelpful, the so called 'manager' ruined my first night when I arrived. I would never stay here again and wouldn't recommend it at all. During my stay I could not speak to the hotel staff about anything I needed help with such as local transport, the best restaurants, directions etc as I felt like a burden and unwanted. It's a shame that a hotel with a good location is let down by the staff, not many rooms with a canal view either, most of them looking over an ally. I loved visiting Venice and still had a great time once I forgot about the miserable staff at the hotel, I would go to Venice again but definetly NOT to hotel Marconi!!
