Lousy experience
I only slept 3 hours cuz the room smelled like pee. Not just any pee—it smelled like the toilet of at least 5 men that hadn’t been cleaned in 5 years. Which was weird, because the room & the toilet were totally clean. The flooring in the bathroom was brand new. Some drunk dude must have pissed all over the floor & it soaked into the subfloor & even new flooring couldn’t get rid of the stench. I kept both bathroom door & vanity door shut & still smelled it as I tried to sleep. Next day at the next hotel on my journey, my toothbrush smelled like the piss. The neighborhood is also sketchy. There’s a security guard, security cameras, plus cop shop nearby, etc, but the people are sketchy at night. Local women walk the main strip alone, but it doesn’t look wise. Drunks & meth is the vibe. Before I went to sleep I noticed that the windows wouldn’t close tight enough to lock. Maintenance came up & got them to lock. Maintenance guy was courteous & safe, but still weird to have a stranger in your room at 2am. Def don’t recommend this place for women traveling solo. At checkin + checkout the clerks were nice, but in the morning no offer was made to reduce the room rate for the vile experience of the permeating piss smell. $150 is WAY too high a rate for any guest to pay for this motel anyway. They do a good job of keeping it clean overall, updating it & trying to address issues, plus staff are good, but I would have left if everything else in town hadn’t been booked.

Exceptional 10.0
Convenient Location and Comfortable Room
We like to stay in downtown Billings during our annual visits. Usually we stay at one of the other downtown hotels (which we also like), but we chose the Clocktower Inn primarily because of the lower cost. We were pleasantly surprised by the attractiveness of the room and its comfort (especially when, after our first day, the too-large upholstered chair was replaced with one with a more human scale). We appreciated not having to deal with elevators or stairs (we were on the ground floor) and we liked having our car nearby, rather than in a distant parking garage. The lighted magnifying mirror in the bathroom was perfect for my husband as he shaved and for me as I did my hair and makeup. We think we may need one at home. Linens were good quality and clean, and the room temperature was easily controlled with a wall thermostat. Bonus: we received a certificate for free breakfasts (limited but adequate options) at Stella's Restaurant for each night we spent. If you plan to use the certificate, you probably should go by 8:30 a.m. or after about 10 a.m. during the week and maybe plan to eat somewhere else on Sunday, since it is very busy on weekends. Unless we are attending an event at one of the downtown hotels, we will stay at the Clocktower Inn as our first choice.

Fair 4.0
Front desk agents highly rude, as if customers were bothering them. Didnt want to explain anything to anyone. One was arguing with the customer in front of us about her booking through a cheap site and not the hotels site. Then went on to say that the black light every room as part of the housekeeping process, so it wasnt her fault that the customer booked wrong. Finally the second agent came from out back and helped. But still rushed through everything. Upon finding the room, walking in you could see that housekeeping didnt vacuum or even spot vac. Pulling back the king bed sheets to look at the fitted, hair was everywhere, along with dirty feet marks. As in they didnt change the sheets. Walking over to the sofa bed, string cheese was sitting right on top as if it was a present. Looking at the night stands, they werent wipped down still have marks from drinks and hair on them. The bathroom was the only thing that" looked "like it was cleaned. The only high light was taking my son to the pool, and us seeing a girl use her mermaid tail to swim around.

Poor 2.0
I was on a trip driving cross country alone (21 year old girl) I booked all my hotel stays a few hours before and had no issue because I read reviews and this hotel has great ones. This was night 5. I pulled in and was completely shocked. The hotel(looks more like a motel) looked old and dangerous. Nothing like the pictures on the website. It's set up like a motel with each room having its own entrance from outside. It looked to be in a not so safe area as well. I stayed in the parking lot for a few minutes debating on wether or not I would stay. During that time I noticed many older men guessing truck drivers going in and out of their rooms. I'm sure this hotel would work well for people like that. If you're young and traveling alone I'd suggest looking elsewhere. Far too expensive for the room

Girls Trip
The man at the front desk, Stan, was beyond kind! He was helpful with where we should eat and drink, and a joy to talk to. He was the first person we talked to in the city and it was a great first impression. It was also cool that we could show our hotel key for 10% off at various bars and eateries! It was a great location, with lots of things within walking distance. We just parked our car and walked to different places. THE FLOORS IN THE BATHROOM WERE HEATED! I don't know why we liked this so much, but it was nice to get ready on a heated floor :) The only downside was the garbage truck (I think?) came at 5:45 am and was extremely loud, and then it was hard to go back to sleep. The walls were a bit thin and the people above us were walking around very loudly, as well as the other people getting up to leave around the hotel, so we could hear car door after car door slamming closed. All in all, would stay again, but would probably ask for a room on the top floor.
