This place isn't perfect,it is very much in need of renovation but it IS acceptable.....you have to strike a balance with this accommodation and resort....if you like to be taken care of in a fairly remote tropical Island & have all basic amenities then this is the place for you!! I found the staff charming & helpful and the cleaning staff attentive and efficient in what they do which is sweep the floor, change towels/bedding, however a little more attention in cleaning baths/sinks would be very welcome as everything felt rather greasy,so you might want to bring some disinfectant or cleaning wipes to assist!! I found the breakfast and dinner buffet to be very good, serving for Asian & western tastes..... negative points were salads and fruit were fantastic but uncovered and 90% of the time covered in flies.... something REALLY needs to be done about this (it is totally unacceptable)also a little more attention by the restaurant staff to keep checking the coffee machines are working....I got very tired constantly asking staff to empty the drawer or running out of cups etc etc also staff need to be more aware when guests are arriving in the restaurant and to show them to their table,we were often trying to find a member of staff to assign us a table....it was awkward and embarrassing!! The pool and poolside area is acceptable and the pool is actually quite nice, also a very big outdoor jacuzzi, the beach & swimming lovely....more regular cleaning required.

Hotel was probably amazing 20 years ago. There has been no upkeep in the cars, vans, some of these are actually dangerous with missing interior panels and mechanically sound very suspect. public areas need a total redecoration. They need to invest some money to continue to charge the rates. No safes working in rooms with a note at the check in saying all room safes are broken. Just fix them. Don’t print a note for guests saying they don’t work. Only one bar open in the day at far end of resort pool- where you can never get a sun lounger. The quiet pool is quiet because the restaurant is closed all day so only the lobby shop to get drinks . Staff are amazing though and rooms are clean and comfortable. But you can get that elsewhere for 1/4 price.

We enjoyed our stay at the Berjaya. The location was good. The beach and the snorkelling were amazing. Breakfast at the hotel was reasonab good. There were also a couple of restaurants outside the hotel which added a bit of variety. Stayed in a garden chalet, which was great, a rollaway bed was provided for additional child.

Absolutely disgraceful accommodation. Unsafe, dirty and incredibly dated. Toilet was broken and leaking, door was hanging off the hinges, exposed wires and sockets coming off the wall.

Have been there the third time the last years and this was the last time as the standard is declining. We had wo rooms and the bathrooms are ok. They still had the same extremely hard oncomfortable beds but new cushions. Airoco in one room was leaking badly, had to switch it out as the water ran over the light switch and the fan worked only in top speed, the other rooms had a airco that worked ok and that was enough to cool both rooms. The pools were both murky and despereatly in need of some chlorine. The beach was beautiful as usual. The food in the restaurant was good. The guys at the beachbar were friendly. After three nights we had enough of it and left earlier than planed.

Tioman is a small island with not much to do but you come here for relaxation and diving. Hardly any roads so if you want to go to the other north part of the island (where there apparently more restaurants) then you need to go by water taxi (expensive so we didn't bother). Berjaya Tioman Resort is about 15 mins walk to Tekek Village (a steep short uphill and downhill) so in the blazing heat it's quite a good workout! We did this a few times and it's a nice short walk where you can take in the views. This resort is a luxury resort with lots of 4 room blocks (two downstairs and two upstairs) just off the beach. We had an upstairs beach view room and the view from the balcony was amazing (beach, sea and sunset on the horizon). The room was a good size and clean. I thought the bed was way too hard so I did struggle to sleep. The bathroom was generally clean although there were tiny ants all over the sink. Please be realistic that this is a beachfront room and there will always be small bugs all over the place. The cleaners did take care of this daily but the ants will always come back. Shower was excellent with good pressure. Pool area is lovely with a swim up bar, jacuzzi and caters for small children. Didn't think the food was very good apart from breakfast, which was good as there is plenty of variety.

I wish to be fair, and not overly critical, especially as I am unsure what to compare against or what is reasonable for the island. We arrived from Penang where the food was awesome. I can't say the same for hotel Berjaya, I even struggled at breakfast, suffice to say I think there is room for improvement. On the plus side there was a good place just outside hotel which cost a third of the price of the hotel and was probably two thirds better.. Another plus was Tioman Dive centre, just over the hill.

Tired and dated, this resort is well past it's prime and could do with some investment to bring it up to date. Saying that, I found the staff helpful and obliging and service was of a high standard for Malaysia. I wouldn't stay again as I consider it overpriced and the location was too isolated with limited F&B options.

The island itself is beautiful and is a must see however the hotel was dated which made our room feel unclean. The hotel was also expensive for meals especially for the quality of the meals. Restaurants around the surrounding area were half the price and much better quality. The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable and there were no WiFi in your rooms. WiFi was available in the restaurant/reception area however it was very slow due to upgrades in the area.
