We left as soon as we arrived.
Arrived at the hotel at about 9:00 pm, entered the front lobby and there were no staff in sight. No one at the front desk. No bell to ring. We waited almost five minutes before a desk worker entered. Tv in the front lobby was broken. There was a jagged hole about 6-7 inches wide in the lobby wall. Our room was on the 1st floor. The hallway smelled musty and the wallpaper was torn in places. Our room was unlocked/unlatched when we got to it. We went back to the front desk. Desk worker was gone again. Found 3 employees outside on the back deck smoking. Told them about our door and they said they forgot to close it after cleaning. Went back to room. Tried to turn on lights, but only half the lights in the room turned on. The bathroom was old but clean. There was a hair in the bathtub, but that could easily have been left during cleaning. When we moved the mattress to check for bedbugs, there were 3-4 small dark specks near the headboard. We investigated, thinking they might be fuzz or bugs. They were neither—looked like small droppings of some kind. At that point we decided the room was not worth what we were paying. Went back out to the front, no desk worker AGAIN. New guests had arrived and were also looking for someone to check them in. Went outside and asked to speak with a manager. One of the smoking employees was the manager. I explained the situation and said I was leaving and wanted a refund. She was very cooperative. Gave us a refund right away.

15-20 min from CVG. Overall dirtiness & smell of cigarettes throughout the property. Gentlemen checking in guests was alone & there was a line of people. He was not very pleasant. My room was “barely” clean, that’s to say it just looked old & unkempt and also smelled of cigarettes even though it was a non-smoking room. I told the gentleman at check-in that I would need a 5am shuttle. He stated the shuttle runs at the top of the hour & he wrote down my name & info on the shuttle list. I came down to the lobby at 4:50am to see the shuttle pulling out of the parking lot. I asked the gentlemen (same one from check-in) if that was the shuttle pulling out. He acted like he had no idea what I was talking about. He called the driver & told him I’d “just come down” implying that I was late. I asked him why the shuttle would leave 10 min early & he said they thought they had everyone. I asked how they could possibly think they had everyone when my name was on the list & he said whoever checked me in must not have put my name on the list. I told him HE checked me in & I SAW him put my name on the list. The driver came back & I asked him about it. He said the other 7 people had a 4:30am shuttle. So apparently there’s no consistency for shuttle times so BEWARE or you may get left & miss your flight. Most likely will NOT stay here again.

Near interstate Florence, KY
The building was fine from the outside and the young lady at the front desk was fabulous! However, two of the four rooms we booked had issues: one with toilet issues (fixed immediately), and one with a ground-floor window that would not lock. We had to request a sawed-off broom stick to secure that one. Another of our rooms had not been thoroughly cleaned. I would also suggest that staff members not congregate in the lobby and lounge on the sofa there to watch TV. I did mention all these concerns to the young man at the front desk as I checked out. None of us are smokers, but the staff chose to smoke outside the dining area but in very close proximity to our non-smoking rooms. That, coupled with having a room next to the kitchen where employees were preparing for the next day's breakfast, made sleeping difficult. (Again, this particularly impacted the unlocked window room). The Microtel staff told me that I would be comped for the room with so many issues (window, kitchen noise, smoke) and that Expedia would be contacting me, but I have NOT been contacted. The rooms were booked about three weeks in advance and were paid for immediately upon booking, so I was expecting an equally fast response. We have never had these problems with any of the many Microtel rooms we've booked before. In fact, we normally start with Microtel when looking for accommodations. I would NOT stay in this one again, and the friends traveling with me have said, "No!" to future Microtel stays.

Hotel needs improvement with customer service
When we arrived at the hotel, around 4 pm, we were greeted by a very nice young lady and were given our room keys. When we got to our room I noticed that our door was open. It had not been cleaned from the previous night. I went back to the front desk to inform the young lady who checked us in. When I told her about our room she stormed off telling the other lady working the front desk that she was leaving. Then, we were told that we would have to wait 25 minutes to get into our room. After we arrived in our room, I looked at my bank account and even though I had paid for the night with hotels.com, the hotel put a one night fee on my debit card as well. When I went to the front desk I was told that it was a damage deposit. I thought it was odd that they put a hold on my card for $177. When I checked out the next morning, I asked a different lady about the charge. She told me that I shouldn't have been charged that. I called to speak to the manager about my stay and he would not speak with me. He told the lady at the front desk to relay messages to me. It took the hotel 4 days to give me back my money. Usually, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about hotels I book from hotels.com, but this hotel started my vacation off on a sour note.

Two words BLACK MOLD
Check in was awesome, met a wonderful gentleman, great guy.we enter the room The tub is black, and has a open bar of soap... I get my Clorox wipes out and begin to clean the tub, ( I always take wipes with me I have a two yr old) but as I'm cleaning I find black mold growing so I scrub it off!! (Check under the creases of the tubs please) black mold is a serious health risk, I write a review, and explain my troubles I got credited one night free cool beans!! No more complaints, even though our room had a musty smell I overlooked it until we found more black mold all around the window in room 304 .. and this point I'm extremely upset because I worked in hotels and I know what should be expected, and dirty rooms are unacceptable all rooms should be cleaned just the same. And never any mold! I complained, and the lady was extremely rude speaking as if it was my problem, , by this time you can imagine the steam coming out my ears, anyhow she offers a smoking room which was apparently the only deep cleaned room there was, we did not know it was smoking as we went to check it out ... which we immediately went downstairs because we have a two year old, of course we don't want a smoking room.. the lady argued that they switched it to a non smoking room.. oh the anger I was feeling I remained calmed and said I want a non smoking room thanks & she gave us another room and said it's not deep Cleaned which all rooms should be, it wasn't clean at all it was dirty wish I took photos
