Avoid room 328
Although advertised and prices as a standard double room 328 has some limitations: The bathroom has two sloping roofs which leaves restricted shoulder and head room in the above bath shower. The mirror adjacent to the handbasin is set at 5' and lighting is very poor. Having a separate toilet is a novelty but not a problem. Staff and breakfast are very good

Rooms not as described, overpriced.
Very disappointed for the money we paid. The rooms are not as shown in the listings so please be careful. Hotel was very busy when we stayed with an event on so staff weren’t able to fully assist us. Such a beautiful building and grounds but requires a lot of work, cleaning and refurbishment to bring it to the standard it believes it sits at. Entrance foyer, lounge and restaurant look good as do the grounds.

Looking rather tired
Once you get beyond the main entrance, the hotel is looking very tired. Some rooms are small and looking rather shabby, the lift is temperamental at best and with only 1 person on reception, checking in was slow.

Old fashion hotel
Had a single room right on the top floor. Woken at 1am early morning by young couple swearing and shouting in the next door room. Went to find the phone to call reception to get it stopped - no phones in the rooms. So either get dressed go down three floors or put up with it. It went on for an hour. You have to pay for parking at the hotel and unlike most hotels in the country there is no Wi-Fi in the rooms.

Pretty poor and well over priced
Bar staff were rude and dismissive. Room was boiling hot with no air flow, no fan or air con. Room was clean but very dated. I would give absolute maximum of 2stars and it should be priced around £50 per night not well over double that. Buxton is an amazing place to visit, which we certainly will but sadly we won’t be stopping here again:-(
