On arrival (early) we were told check-in would be available between 1400-1500 and reception offered to call us when the room was ready; on return to the hotel at 1600 the room wasnt ready and despite several trips to the desk we did not get a room until after 1800; with a 1900 dinner reservation across town this was not ideal; the hotel manager was apologetic and went out of his way to try to redeem this poor start to our stay for which we were grateful but it was not a standard of service (the check-in process) which I was expecting at a hotel charging this room rate; otherwise the hotel was clean and comfortable, breakfast was very good and the hotel is well positioned for all local amenities/city centre Dublin

Fine stay at The Alex
Spent one night at The Alex. Nice location. Staff were very friendly but there was a line to check in and staff were milling around and it was unclear what exactly they were doing. Coffee shop looked cute but not open. No valet or on-site parking, but there a parking garage with paid parking a block away. We stayed in a suite which was spacious. Staff did not give us access to the Executive Lounge, which is mentioned as an amenity in multiple reviews for people staying in upgraded rooms (we booked a suite). Overall it was completely fine but there was nothing about our stay which would make me excited to go back.
