Location has its ups and downs
I had a mixed experience. Firstly, the location is extremely central. It's a minute to the metro, surrounded by shops and restaurants and 15 minutes to many of Madrid's main attractions. The surrounding streets are pedestrian only, except for deliverys in the early morning. My first room overlooked Calle Preciados and unfortunately this meant a lot of noise all day and late at night. Multiple buskers (admittedly I found them all very good, but they can play until 10.30 or later in the evening), but also lots of people in general. That meant people who had been out drinking yelling and 4am and then delivery trucks at 5am. I ended up sleeping with earplugs. I can cope with some noise (I live opposite a hospital), but I found this really difficult. The other main issue I had with my room was that it had a very noticeable smell of damp, especially the bathroom. The bathroom didn't really have proper ventilation, and I expect the noise from the street means the doors to the room are rarely opened long enough. I did end up requesting to change to a different room due to issues, and moved from level 3 to level 4 but still facing the same street. Oddly enough, the noise from the second room was dramatically less. The second room was also dramatically larger. The level 3 room was very small and tight, even as a solo traveller. Both beds were very comfortable. The location is good, the staff were very good, but the noise may bother you if you get the wrong room.

AWESOME ROOM AWESOME LOCATION!
We loved this place! We were able to get an early check-in and before that had our bags held so we could site-see without them and no charge. The staff was friendly. The hotel was clean and in a great location in Plaza del sol but down a street a bit up so it's the perfect mix between hustle & bustle but not smack in the middle of the plaza. Our room was AMAZING! We had four balconies after all I did was request a room with a balcony. It was the corner room on the top level such a cool location to experience Madrid. The hop-on/hop-off bus is a 3 minute walk from the hotel which was perfect and you're about a 7 minute walk from Plaza Mayor and all of that section. Between the tour bus and the central location we either bused or walked everywhere. Highly recommend this place!!!

Good hotel in excellent central position.
A good hotel in an ideal spot, close to Metro, shops, restaurants & bars. Our room was a good size, was clean, had comfortable beds and a small balcony. The bathroom was well equipped and toiletries & towels were changed daily if necessary. Breakfast had a good selection of hot and cold foods & there was always plenty of fresh fruit. Wifi was good, the only thing I missed was not having a kettle & tea & coffee making facilities in the room. The staff were pleasant, especially Amelie, who was especially helpful, friendly and efficient. If you like being right "in the thick of things", this hotel is ideal!

Fantastic in every way
The hotel is extremely conveniently located, less than 2 minutes from one of the major metro stops. It is walking distance from the Royal Palace, Plaza mayor, the Prado, the Thyssen, and most other major attractions. The hotel staff are super friendly. The breakfast is fine, pretty standard for Spain. The rooms are comfortable, surpisingly spacious for Europe, and very clean. The wi-fi is excellent. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with this hotel and would absolutely stay here again.

Location isn’t everything
Stayed here four nights. It was warm during our stay and no air conditioning was available. The location is terrific and all attractions are no more than a ten minute walk. What we were unaware of is that the street vendors and musicians who play right outside your balcony continue until way past 2 in the morning. It is impossible to sleep well due to all the noise. The hotel is very dated with tiny rooms ( especially the bathroom )even by Europe standards. Not a good value for what you get
