Fair 4.0
Very loud location and incompetent staff.
I was a bit early, so I waited in the lobby. The staff behind the reception desk were arguing loudly and then the supervisor came out and joined as well. They got feedback from a guest and when the conversation ended on the phone, the supervisor told the two other staff in the reception what a f*"#ing cow this guest is. It was not possible to check in on time, as the staff had no idea what rooms were occupied and not. People came back after recieving the room keys/ cards as their rooms were occupied by other guests. One English woman almost cried when coming back for the third time. Not once did the staff apologize to the hotel guests for the chaos and inconvenience. I finally got up to the room wanting to relax, so I put the "Please don't disturb" sign on the door. This sign apparently fills no function in this hotel, as hotel staff ignore it overall three times. If you want to relax and privacy, then this hotel is not for you. When checking out after four days, they were not even able to print the city tax receipt. There are some good things as well. The location of the hotel is conveniently close to the railway station and the city center and then quality of the internet is good.

Value for money
Hotel was good and it was spotlessly clean. Staff very excellent, spoke perfect English and couldn't have been more helpful - thank you. Breakfast was great and the hotel was only a 5 minute walk from the main train station - great location. Bed was comfy and shower was great. However, I was there on business and the Wi-Fi was terrible - I mean seriously poor; upload speed was virtually 0 and I ended up using my mobile data instead as was so much better. Also, there was no table in the room so I had to work sitting on the bed. In addition all but one of the English TV channels were not working. Also, for those of you that are from the UK be warned there are no tea/coffee making facilities - not even a complimentary bottle of water. Lastly, which is why I probably wouldn't stay here again, the hotel is right next to the railway line and a busy road, and I struggled to sleep for the noise. Maybe some rooms are quieter than others and I was just unlucky; also, I do live somewhere that is very quiet so if you live in a noisy town/city anyway you may not notice. However, I was tired by the end of my stay. All in all I would still describe it as value for money as the price was excellent!

Great service, good choice of breakfast but dirty
Good points: The service at check in was very friendly and helpful. There was a good breakfast selection for a reasonable price. The housekeepers themselves were friendly too and were happy to help with any issues. Checking out was quick and easy with no issues. Bad points: The room itself was dirty in places. The light switches had grime on them. Many surfaces had dust on it. There was no air conditioning but there was a floor fan, which I had to personally clean as the blades and cover was caked in dust. In the bathroom a foul smell was coming up from the drain The water from the shower didn't drain fast enough to keep up with what was coming from the shower. The extraction fan was completely caked in dust. Overlooking the dirt in places, the bed and table surfaces were at least clean. Noisy if you have the windows open due to it being right beside the train tracks and a tunnel which people had a habit of revving their vehicles through.

I don't often leave reviews but this was not a good experience. The specific room we were in was not good at all. Never mind the fact that it was on the ground floor and that we could hear everything that was going on outside if we opened the windows. This we can live with, it's a city hotel. The main issue is that the restroom really smelled of urine constantly. There is also a sewer smell in there. Also, there is this noise coming from an adjacent room that sounds like a garbage compactor and it happens over and over all day. As mentioned before, I don't know how it is on upper floors, but I would avoid the 1st floor. Also, probably not a good option for business trips as there is one iron and you have to go to the 3rd floor with your clothes to use it.

This conveniently located hotel was clean and had all the needed amenities. The problem I had with this hotel is that the name of the hotel (Crystal)was not the same as what I booked on Expedia (boutique 009). Apparently it changed hands 4 months ago, we booked the hotel well after that, ( about 2 months ago). We were not given any indication of the changeover before arriving, no email, no text, nothing. We wasted so much time trying to find it, it was hot at the time of arrival so we were worn right out and very grumpy by the time we realised what was going on. In the lobby there was a small sign indicating the name change. We have been on holiday for over two weeks and most of the hotels have sent an email before check in day. This could have easily been done, not sure why they wouldn’t have, especially with this circumstance.
