Whilst the hotel has recently ben refurbished, I'm afraid that this is a triumph of Farrow & Ball paint on a very poor hotel. The fundamental (old) nature of the hotel is simply not conducive to modern travel. Of course, there's no air conditioning and the windows are tiny (and secured almost shut), so the hotel is hot and stuffy. The doors are engineered to slam shut and the walls are thin, so it's noisy. The water pressure is very variable, so a hot shower can turn cold in an instant and vice versa. The hotel is located opposite the convention centre, so in theory well located. However, a show was being set up through the whole of the first night that we stayed there, so it was extremely noisy - even with the windows closed (which made the heat worse....). And then we have the staff. At least, when you can get hold of them. We phoned the hotel reception five times, but never got an answer. It was frequently unstaffed and at peak check out time had a single member of staff fixated on chatting rather than performing her job. It took an hour for a simple request to be fulfilled. The car park only takes a half dozen cars and is expensive; the nearest free parking is a considerable walk away - though there are paid for bays close to the hotel if you are lucky.

Good 6.0
The Hotel itself was beautiful. Very comfortable and the room was amazing. Reception staff very friendly and went our of their way to help. Shame about the service from the bar and restaurant. Waited around 15mins to be served at the bar as no one was round. We only got served after the receptionist called the bar person. Who apparently was on a cigarette break. It only got worse the next morning where we did not even sample the breakfast. As soon as we arrived we could not find a seat...last seat remining was one where the table had not been cleaned. So we looked around for a short while and asked one of the ladies serving beverages if she could clear the table. She was very rude and asked us to sit somewhere else in the restaurant. After some further discussions with her she decided we could site there and 10mins later cleared the table. 20mins later I asked another server if they would take our breakfast order and drinks orders. Drinks arrived 10mins later ……..still no breakfast. I then asked the first lady if she could check where our breakfast was. She did not even reply just walked off. We then sought the manager in the room. Who was also rude. So after over an hour we left. Shame as the hotel itself is lovely. They just need to have more staff willing to work. I won't be returning. Back to the Majestic for me.

Great location.Welcoming reception staff on arrival.Room was spotless, spacious.Had everything you needed.Had a view of the road. Was a bit noisy during the early hours of the morning.Other negative i have is the bed.Thought the bed i booked was a kingsize. It was a double. The receptionist said it was a Kingsize. But it wasnt.Room111.Felt rushed at breakfast. Not even finished cereal and the waiter brought out the cooked breakfast.By time we made toast the breakfast was cold.He even said "get you in-get you out" "it is Sunday afterall" Not very professional. The hotel was beautifully decorated and was immaculate in all areas.Would go back but would like a garden view with a kingsize bed.

Very good 8.0
Overall lovely - make sure you get a bigger room
Hotel was lovely and in a great position within Harrogate. It was very clean and generally well maintained. Sadly the room we were in was just so small. I banged my leg on a table getting past the bed and the en-suite was badly designed. We have to squeeze our selves in to go to the loo between a heated towel rail (which did get hot) and the shower. I’m sure with a bigger the stay would be much more comfortable. I would stay again if I was allocated a bigger room.

Exceptional 10.0
Hotel was nicely decorated, room was small but perfect for our stay. Carpark was small and best to pre book but £10 a night when parking is available in streets nearby for free. Town was lovely and just a stroll away as are many places to eat as did not use hotel but thats my preference.
