Recommended, beautiful location
Really enjoyed our one night stay at Emerald Lake lodge. There was a bit of a way to carry our cases as we were not staying near the main building, but we probably could have got help if we wanted. Our queen room was really comfortable and a good size. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evening. The ice machine wasn't working when we were there, but they were happy to give me some at the check in desk. We were on the second floor and had beautiful views of the lake between the tree tops.

Great location but poor hotel
This is a really charming hotel in a perfect setting. However, we did not have a good experience. You cannot park next to the hotel and so you have to park 1km away and take a shuttle bus. This took far too long to come - about 30 minutes. It was very hot on the day and we had to sit in a stuffy room with no drinks available - which after a long drive was not appreciated. On arrival at reception we were asked to wait for an employee to take us to our room - after waiting outside on a pavement for 15 minutes we gave up. The hotel was also very hot and not equipped to deal with hot weather - even at 11pm it was too hot to sit in the restaurant without sweating. Food was expensive and bland. There was a wedding the night we were there and being in a room with no air-conditioning had to open the window to keep it bearable. The loud music continued until about midnight. The room looked very nice and was comfortable. However, there was no TV which was surprising.

Come visit the lake but stay elsewhere
The first room we were allocated was badly affected by a smell from the drains. After moving to a different room, the smell was less prominent but still a lingering presence. I guess the drainage problem affects several of the ground floor rooms. Both rooms were in need of refurbishment (cracked basins, torn carpet) and the hotel is in general need of refurbishment. The location on the lake is fantastic and the bell staff were very helpful. It's a great pity the hotel does not live up to its price band.

This hidden gem by the Emerald Lake...
A wonderful retreat for couples.Highly recommended to stay here if exploring Lake Louise area and Yoho National Park.Among the other boutique like lodges such as Cathedral Mountain Lodge,Morrain Lake Lodge ,Emerald Lake Lodge is definitely the winner. The staff is the no. 1 winner. The bonuses are ofcourse its secludeness, quiet, romantic, beautiful surrounding environment which makes you feel really tucked in with nature. No mood spoilers like extreme numbers of tour coaches in Morraine Lake and Lake Louise. The room decor may be a bit tired and average neutral, but its clean and spacious plus has a good size balcony and logwood fireplace. Thus place has small no.of rooms and it's not scattered too far.The restaurant food is truly exquisite. The other boutique lodges have high quality cabins and designer interior decors and furnishings but the services are so poor and run like a summer camp by college kids who does not appreciate customer service enough to understand let alone actioned. They do not realised guests who are staying there will have slightly higher expectations in the quality and attention to details. Not mentioning being welcoming and courteous. I stayed at these different lodges, hence I can conclude that Emerald Lake Lodge is the real hidden gem among the stone mountains.
