Comfy and Well Located
This hostel is amazing. My husband and I needed a reasonably priced place to stay downtown, as we wanted to go see the Christmas markets, etc. It's in the perfect location and within walking distance to just about everything. The breakfast is continental and what you would expect (toast, meats, cheeses, fruit, coffee, juice), and the private room we booked was super comfortable. Whenever we make it back to Edinburgh, we're staying here again!

The location is super for arriving from the airport via bus although it is easy to miss the sign for the hostel when arriving late at night for check-in. Great that it has late night check-in though! The top bunk in the triple decker rooms is high so try to request a lower bunk if you don't like climbing. Overall a good stay choice for a night.

Rude receptionist & housekeeping. Otherwise great.
For the most part everything was great. Housekeeping was very loud when they came in to clean everyday. I had to ask one housekeeper to use his headphones because he was listening to music on his phone. The receptionist with the medium long brown hair (not the one from aus) was a bit rude to people the day that I checked out. At 10:01 she was walking around telling everyone who was sitting down eating to take their plates over to Belushi’s because breakfast is finished. She should have broken down and cleaned up the breakfast area first, then done the dishes, then after 15+ min after 10 ask people to move if they are still eating. Obviously other things could have been done instead of immediately asking people to leave.

Hostel needs gathering place
I like the wood staircases and the wide windows. But usually hostels have a common kitchen and I didn't see one. I had some food I wanted to refrigerate. There wasn't water to drink that I could see. Or a common area - other than the bar. The bathroom being inside the shared room had plus and minus. I was leery of waking anybody in the morning with the light.

The room was extremely cramped. The lockers were small, so everyone had their bags in the walkway, which made the room even smaller. The lower and middle bunks are so short that you can't sit up and I kept banging my head. Each bunk had outlets, usb ports, and a night light. The location is good. It is easy to access buses, trains, and trams. You can use the hostel's washer, dryers, and use their detergent free, which is awesome.
