Definitely Back for More!
This was one of the best stays we have ever had! The room had an amazing view and the staff was wonderful. The one thing that I was not happy with was that they have a mini fridge that is magnetic so it can apparently sense when you take something - however, when we checked in 2 items were missing from the fridge and the woman from the desk tried to charge me for them. Make sure you check the fridge when you walk in and don't touch anything! If it's missing something that you did not consume, call the desk immediately to let them know so you do not get charged. Apart from that, it is in a wonderful location about a minute from Tower Hill station, 5 minutes from Tower Bridge and near a bunch of nice both expensive and in expensive restaurants including some local pubs. The spa is worth paying for this hotel in itself - however if you have children its not a pool they can just splash around in because they have lanes where they sell memberships to locals and people come to practice during the day. Also, the woman who cleaned our room came in at 7am even though we had the red sign on the door but she apologised when she saw us in bed sleeping. However, we will definitely be returning if we can find a great price!

Lovely location, Nice looking hotel
The hotel is perfectly situated for access to the River, Tower bridge and the tower of London are just at the end of the road and St Katherines Dock is a 15 minute walk away. Two stops from Tower Hill and you are at London Liverpool St and Fenchurch St is literally round the corner so the location was perfect. The hotel feels very grand as you approach and enter but you cant help feeling that the hotel is in need of a major refurbishment. The Staff were very helpful and attentive and made you feel welcome. The facilities such as the pool etc were very good and there was a huge restaurant and a couple of Bars although not always open that late. The Hotel is rated as a 5 start although I have stayed in 4 star hotels that have felt similar and I have no doubt that if there was some investment in to improving the hotel in terms of modernising it would certainly feel like a 5 start hotel, not that it is not a nice hotel by any means as its lovely but dated. We went to visit on a special occasion and we were given a stunning room on the 11th Floor with fantastic views over the Tower of London and Tower bridge and the Thames so couldn't have asked for a better room although if you were on a room that overlooked the back you would have a view of the Gherkin and other skyscrapers so we got the best outlook in that respect.

We particularly chose to stay @ this hotel because it has air conditioning, knowing that there would be a heatwave in London. We got to our room, the room was in shambles. it was not ready. A staff, Vishal who happen to be in the hallway right away sorted it out. We were reassigned to a different room. This room feels like sauna. We can hear AC working but not cooling at all. We asked for someone to check AC, Someone came to check AC and said it was working perfectly. In 10-15 min it should cool the room. It never did. We asked for fans, no one even attended to that request. Staff just ignored phone calls. I got to talk to other people staying at the hotel. I found out they were in the same predicament. Vishan tried his best to pa iffy us, but the comfort of AC nor fans was not delivered. What was even worse was that upon checkout the staff nonchalantly asks apart from the AC how did you like your stay.? To that I was appalled by the indifference and said we could not sleep during our stay in the hotel. She looked up with a blank face just said hmmm...

Didn't get a good sleep and at the end of the day that is the main requirement of a bedroom. Air conditioning was rattling and generally loud. Told reception expecting an option to move but told it would be fixed. Went out and came back to find that the rattling noise had been fixed but the unit was loud anyway. Our room looked straight onto the railway platform and we could be seen eye to eye with all passengers sat in train carriage. Curtains have to be shut all the time if you don't want this intrusion (no net curtain). Hotel have made sure no noise is heard by adding a glazing unit that can't be opened which means room is very hot.so AC has to be used. Now you get used to the loud operation of it, however all through the night it turned itself off and on with a crunching noise waking us up every time it did. The only reason I gave this hotel any sort of credit was as breakfast was very good. Our issues could so easily have been sorted and we could of had a decent sleep so as a result would we come back on our next visit? The answer to that is NO and if you want a nice nights sleep I would stay away

Nice hotel, but did not meet my expectations
I stayed at the City Grange for a work trip for 3 nights, I chose this hotel as I have stayed many times before for both business and pleasure but I ended up staying in the smallest size room I have ever experienced in all the Grange location. In all other Grange Hotel rooms, bathrobes and facecloths were supplied as standard but not at the City Grange anymore also I had to request an Iron. I was unable to work in my room as there was very little space at the desk and very little storage space for my suit case or room around the bed to move. I could smell cigarette smoke each night while in my room, very unpleasant. I tried to book a spa treatment to be told there was no availability at any time on any of the 3 days/evenings I was staying and no alternative offered in the sister hotel just a few streets away. I paid to use the spa of a neighboring hotel who were more than accommodating. Not the best experience this time around i'm afraid, it may be time to find a new favorite and try a new hotel chain, Such a shame.
