Nice hotel, managed C19 requirements well, great location
Breakfast was slow service
Over all a very nice hotel. The food was superb, and the areas were well presented and well finished, although the sofas were not very comfortable. Aslo the rooms were a bit underwhelming and the bed very uncomfortable and for the standard of hotel of betta quality .
Ok. Beds very comfortable, furnishing requires updating, for a 4star would also expect slippers and dressing gown
The Hotel is in need of a refurbishment, dinning Room and Corridor areas very tatty and could do with Painting and a change of Carpet, the Lounge area the furniture is worn and needs to be replaced, The outside needs repainting and Electric sockets near the swimming pool area (Smoking Side) has no cover. The Room we requested we did not get and a special, as it was our anniversary I arrange for champagne and Flowers to be in the room as a surprise for my Wife, but they put them in the wrong room and the champagne was not even in the room, we had to wait for it to be delivered, overall not a very good experience and I will not be booking with Hotels direct again.
Generally very pleasant staff were very friendly and professional food was amazing so well done to the Chefs. Our room was noisy due to the walls being thin and we got woken by stomping feet above us and the tv on next to us. I know this is down to the building but some sound proofing would be good and maybe make people aware when they check in that there will be people below then and to be mindful of that!
Awful rooms never returning here! Changed rooms to suncliff hotel on cimplaining about our room after one night we were adjed to change rooms back to the Cumberland hotel fir the rest of the three days. Room had no water pressure to wash we had to use another room for this situated on ground floor. And then return to our room on 4th floor.! Awful conditions of rooms.
Sadly the internet did not work on our floor, the manager told us a booster was not working due to water damage. The elevator is not fit for purpose for the property, particularly during covid-19. As well, we left a shirt hanging in the closet and called a few hours after check out. The shirt has not been found, which is troubling. Otherwise it is a nice enough property and the staff try hard and feel bad for the problems. The pool area is very nice.
we have just returned from a 3 night stay. It was just OK. I expected more from a 4 star hotel. The decor looks very decadent until you take a closer look. Quite untidy paintwork. Needs a good updating with regards to the corridors for instance. There was a strange smell in the corridors, unsure whether it was smoke, dogs or dirt! Basically it didnt smell clean. The bedroom was ok, but very small. The door hits the bed when you open it! The reception didnt have any towels when we went for a swim, although the pool was very empty. I may have read wrong, but do know I definitely did not know the Cumberland does not have their own indoor pool..you have to go out onto the road to the next door hotel to use that one, so just be aware. Quite expensive for what you get. The parking is VERY limited although you can use the car parks in 3 adjacent hotels..all are very small. There is an £8 per night charge of you dont book directly so factor that into your stay
