Not that great unfortunately
No one at the desk to check us in, no hairdryer in the room even though there was a picture of one in the cupboard. Shower was blocked, TV only got one channel and the noise at weekends was ridiculous. Also they tried to charge us £14 for breakfast when we checked out even though we never had one.

Wouldn't be inclined to stay again
Bedroom was very small - only one bedside cabinet of very poor quality. The TV was placed in a very dangerous place and we cut our head on the corner. The courtyard was very noisy till very late at night

hotel adequate, reception excellent, avoid brecky!
The receptionists were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The room was adequate and clean but nothing more. Breakfast in the Three Sisters was awful. It is a cold, beer smelling, falling apart room/bar. We opted for the continental breakfast. There appeared to be no spoon for the fruit salad though I discovered this submerged under the fruit/liquid. The following day it appeared to be the same spoon (?) hidden in the bottom of the same slightly older looking fruit salad. In summary, hotel adequate, reception staff excellent but avoid the Three Sisters/breakfast.

Good hotel
The room was big, but it could do with more storage , ordinary t.bags, and the bathroom could do with a paint, also you need to check that your room clean as we found some things in the bathroom and also things behind the 311

Great hotel - but possibly not for light sleepers
This bright hotel is located above the popular Three Sisters pub in Edinburgh's Cowgate and everywhere we wanted to visit during our stay was at most a twenty minute stroll away. The room was large, clean and comfortable and furnished in a modern style, with a large bed and firm mattress. The bathroom was also a good size, with an excellent rainfall shower - though frosted glass on the outside window would be a useful addition at their next upgrade! The free wifi was excellent - unlike the TV reception, which was a little patchy. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and were pleasant and efficient throughout our stay. The optional breakfast is amazingly good value for a full Scottish fry-up and the late finish of 11am allows even the more hung-over resident to take advantage. Despite the extra sound-proofing and double black-out blinds, there was a considerable amount of light and noise leaking into our room above the courtyard from the pub beer garden. While it didn't unduly impact us (we're both sound sleepers) light sleepers could face some issues, so should probably consider requesting a room facing the rear of the hotel. While the Stay Central is competitively priced in relation to other centrally located hotels, Edinburgh is simply not a cheap city to stay in so I'm afraid that the costs are high compared to similar hotels in other cities. That being said, the hotel and bar are a great spot and we'd definitely visit again.
