Absolutely disgusting...avoid!!!
I tried to add everything wrong with this hotel, but ran out of words, so apologies, but bullet points will have to suffice: - Check in, rude unhelpful staff. Clearly stressed and busy arguing with people, rather than helping - Lift, took an age to use the key card to get to my floor - Smell, the room had a musty/dirty smell. Needed to use the air conditioning for a number of hours to reduce this. - Sound, literally the people next door may as well have been in my room with me...I heard everything they said and did. - Cleanliness, the bathroom was filthy (photo's to follow), also, why was the only light in the bathroom hidden behind a wall, requiring me to shower in the dark? - Plumbing, this may be the reason for the smell. Used the toilet and despite repeatedly flushing over an hour, nothing left the bowl. - In room entertainment, didn't work and as such, I would have to make do with tv only access, as the system would need rebooting and "it would take too long" - Assistance, I received a call about 10.30, asking if I wanted to change my room. At 10.30pm??? I politely declined, although in hindsight, I should have packed up. Seriously, over £230 for this room for one night? Absolutely disgusting and I would advise all to avoid this place like the plague.

Not bad but small niggles (and one annoying one)
This was a (relatively) last minute booking for the Easter weekend. Great location, in the shadow of St Paul’s and just across the Thames from the Tate Modern. Regarding the room, it was comfortable enough but small things, that you would have expected to be there, were missing which was a surprise. Spoons for the tea and coffee making facilities, a loo brush, an iron, extra pillows (I popped down to reception and they sent one up swiftly) and more drink making bits. For instance, there were six drink making sachets (two coffee, two decaf and two tea bags) but only two packets of milk. I know I could have ordered more but is it asking too much to expect a better selection? And the headboard for the bed was just that, board. Wasn’t padded and rather uncomfortable. Again a small thing but never mind. Our main complaint though could have been a one-off. We we both awoke at about 4am by a weird, irregular drilling noise which came from another floor. It lasted about 45 minutes and we didn’t see any point going back to reception and managed to drift off to sleep eventually. And then, at 6:15am, the blooming alarm clock went off as it had been set previously (not by us) and I’d not bothered to check it had been set (you wouldn’t, would you?). So a combination of all these things meant we probably wouldn’t stay there’s again. For the price (just over £100) it wasn’t bad but we’ve stayed at better.

Very well placed hotel marred by disruptive noises
We were immediately impressed with the service at CQ. We arrive by train in London at 9 am. CQ happily stored our luggage so we could spend the day sightseeing. When we returned, our luggage had been taken to our room and the sofa bed had been made into a bed for our son. The kitchenette in the unit was a bonus. We received help from the desk finding bus routes. The downside, which was a big one, of our stay was the noise. There was a whistling sound that came through the vents all night long. Sometimes so loud I had to cover my ears. We heard it on and off throughout our 2 night stay. We also heard the elevator that was adjacent to our room. We liked the service and the location of the hotel and knew we were only staying for 2 nights, so we did not request a change. We were too tired after a day of sightseeing to move all our things. We put up with the noise the second night because we knew we were leaving the next day. Had I known before we unpacked that first night how noisy and disruptive it would be, I would have immediately requested a different room. If you are exhausted enough to block out a whistling that sounds like a teapot blowing throughout the night, then location and service still make this an adequate place to stay for a night or two. I will be back in London this fall, but the noise experience was enough to make me consider alternate places to stay.

TERRIBLE! Elevators out. Water stopped. bad staff
Terrible. At least one elevator was out everyday, apparently it had been this way for weeks. We were told we couldn’t take the stairs as they were emergency only. Then BOTH elevators were out. Try walking down 7 flights with your big suitcases. NO staff offered to help. NO prior warning given, only a sign on the wall telling people elevators are down and we “should plan accordingly”, thus making it our issue. Then only a note saying both elevators out, again no prior warning. No hotel should book rooms if they can serve people. ALSO the water in our suite turned off completely. We reported it. No explanation, no apology, NOTHING. Any other hotel would have offered a new room or a free dinner. The staff do not give a crap, they couldn’t care less, they did nothing for us. Other guests had similar issues on past trips. I have stayed at CQ before and while basic, they usually have good service and amenities. This one was deplorable. Terrible! Inconvenient. And they just didn’t care. The man who told us we couldn’t take the stairs didn’t even look up from his computer. How the hell do you expect people to get between floors with no elevator, alarmed stairs, and no water to even have a shower.

The front desk staff is not very helpful. When I first arrived at 10am I knew that check in wasn’t until 3pm. Knowing this I was asking about storing my luggage until check in. The staff at the front desk told me I could check in early for $50 extra. Thinking at the time this was a decent deal due to it being 5 hours early I agreed. As soon as I got to the room I got a reply email from the hotel (I sent an email asking about luggage storage before my flight). In the email the company told me I could store my luggage or check in early and that early check in was free after 11am. If the staff at the front desk had told me of this policy I would have left and gotten lunch and came back an hour later and saved myself $50. On another instance we decided to stay another night in London. I went to the front desk to ask about extending our stay and without looking up our booking or asking any questions a staff member we had not seen before stood there shaking his head no and then said they were booked. I don’t know how he knew they were booked if he didn’t know what day we were asking for. Over all the hotel is very pricey for a tiny room with barely any amenities. It took 2 days for the AC to drop from 25 to 21 degrees Celsius while being on full blast. Someone also took the privacy hanger off our door sometime during the night. There are no safes in the room and you must trust the old security deposit boxes the hotel has in a closet and keep a key with you.
