Horrible... Country motel 8 level.
I have no idea how this place could be ranked as a 4 stars. Motel 8, if not worse. Only good thing is location. 1. Water in shower does not drain. Floor is slippery. I hate it! My complain at the front desk about this issue was not resolved at all. I was told that they will notify technician may be next week(!!!) since there are holidays, and they cannot change my room now. When I was talking about this issue at the front desk the girl asked: which room number is it 616? Which tell me that is is not problem in only one room... 2. The bar in the room is empty, not even water available, alrhough they will take your credit card for bar deposit(?!??) 3. Front desk mostly nice, but very "green". The kid at from desk who checked me in was obviously stressed out about the whole process and number of guests in line, he never even offering me a map of the city, neither asked if I have any questions about attractions, restaurants, etc. 4. When my card stop working I went to the front desk and asked what the problem is. I was told that I kept my card near the phone. I politely explained that I kept it with the rest of my credit cards in RFD wallet, they are all working perfectly. It's not my first rodeo for the Christ sake... 5.. there is no information about the hotel itself in the room: like sauna and health club access and hours, restaurant schedule, etc. 6. Cleaning service will wonder into your room around 8:45 in the morning without even knocking on the door!

Very good
Lovely hotel, close to everything you need
The staff upon arrival and throughout my stay were very friendly. I was booked in, given my room key and directed to the lift all with a smile. The room itself (6th floor) was inward facing towards a court yard so noise wasn't an issue at all and I am a light sleeper, didn't need my earplugs! It was much bigger than I expected, 2 single mattresses together, TV, coffee machine, fridge, room safe all with more than enough room to move. I was travelling alone but a couple would easily have enough room here. Everything felt clean, fresh and almost new... The hotel itself is located ideally, just a street or 2 from major tourist sites like checkpoint charlie and main shopping streets, if that's your thing. You're also close to the 2 and 6 underground lines and at no point did I feel unsafe in the area. Would I stay here again? Without question!

Exceptional
Great customer service and location
Stayed here for my wife's birthday and have to mention the staff were very accommodating and even went out their way in making the room nice on the actual birthday with a cake. The hotel is close to a few fast food restaurants which are open til the early hours and for us was nicely located and walking distance to a few of the museums around. Only downside I have to say is the breakfast wasn't that amazing as something as simple as beans wasn't available and neither was the WiFi available that great. Also, the amount of tables are very limited during breakfast which is strange considering the amount of rooms in the hotel which means you can be waiting around for a table. Still, I would recommend staying here but not getting the breakfast included. There is an Irish pub within 5 min walk from the hotel as a great alternative for a delicious english breakfast.

Exceptional
The suite room was very spacious, clean and very modern. The bedroom was very spacious with extra chairs, desk, TV, and a large king bed and had its own door. There was a separate toilet room with a small sink and a very nice shower room with a REALLY nice shower and a separate large bathtub and sink area. The suite office room had its own door with a comfortable fold out couch/bed. It also had a desk, TV and a balcony that overlooked a beautiful courtyard that was part of the hotel. The hotel is in a great location on a quiet street and is very convenient to the subway. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this room setup for someone traveling with a child. It was a perfect setup for my wife, daughter and myself.

Good
Never again...!
The location was great! The room was okay but the service was poor especially from housekeeping and front desk. We had to reiterate that 3 adults were in the room and accommodations for towels, robes, glassware, etc., was needed. We were placed in the “residence” part of the hotel and had to go down to the front desk to get drinks and treats to bring back to the room daily. The reasoning was for their eco program which made no sense. As well, there was a power failure early one morning and the internet was done. We were locked out of the “residence” and room. We had to have the room cards reactivated. As well, the WIFI was down for 2 days and we only had access in the lobby...they kept saying it was the City who had to fix it...made no sense since the WIFI in the hotel worked. Given the rating of the hotel, cost per night and the lack of hotel service, this time is the first and last time for us to stay at a Mercure hotel. We stayed at six other places over our four week trip, this place was the worst for service.
