6/10 Good

I decided to give the grand a try as I usually stay at little America. When I checked in I was told that this doesn’t pertain to me but housekeeping is by requests only but since I was only staying one night I wouldn’t have to worry about it. So I go to my room exhausted from the week I had to my suite only to be bombarded by the smell of weed. I called the front desk and asked to change suites. They were very accommodating but I wish my suite was identical to the first one. The next day I was awoken by an aggressive doorbell ringing. I jumped up to look a the clock (745am) b4 running to the door to witness “house keeping” walking away from my room. I honestly couldn’t sleep after that around 9am I decided to sleep a shower before check to may surprise, my door bell rings again!! Housekeeping! At this point I’m thinking and am I late for checkout?? Of course she walk down the hall by the time I grab my towel to see. Upon checkout I tell the front desk what happened in which they gave me 30 or 50 bucks of my almost 500 dollars! The whole thing jut kind of felt like a insult I just want to be heard tbh but that won’t the case. It’s all disappointing as I really jut wanted to treat myself, me rest! Only to leave more tired

Grand vs Little on NYE
We stayed here for our family staycation on NYE. We usually stay at Little America in a Tower room, but this year we decided to splurge and stay at Grand America in a suite. Was it worth it? Check in: Both hotels have valet parking and a gorgeous lobby Room: One of the reasons we chose The Grand is they still have the Victorian furniture in the bedrooms. My daughter was excited to stay in a room with “castle” furniture. I was disappointed to open our door (rm 274) and see dilapidated rattan living room furniture. What? It was so out of place with the rest of the decor. It definitely did not look like “castle” furniture. Bathroom: This redeemed my daughters visions of royalty. The dressing area and bath met all of our expectations. Afternoon Tea: Superb! I highly recommend this experience. We dressed for tea and had a delightful hour indulging. Pool: The indoor pool is large and the changing areas were clean. The pool was not crowded. Little America has more young families and the pool area can get crowded. TV/Movies: The hotel chrome cast smart tv option was down so they offered us a free pay per view movie. We prefer smart tv. Quietness: We could hear what was going on around us and above us. I am assuming this is due to the age of the building. Late Check out: We paid $50 to get a 2pm check out. Conclusion: If the room would have looked like the photos online we would choose Grand on NYE because of crowds at Little.
