I will never return or recommend to anyone.. AWFUL
Where do I even begin? First of all, I reserved two rooms... I wanted both rooms to have 2 Queen beds but their last room was available was a king. We ended up with one of each, no big deal. *****When we checked in, I asked if they had any cancellations so that we could have both rooms with 2 queen beds. She told me no, everything was booked.***** Fine, still no big deal, they at least put us down the hall from each other. Here's where it gets interesting. We got to the first room.. one King bed, a pull out couch, cool. Went to the 2nd room, SOMEONE ELSE'S BELONGINGS WERE IN THERE! So we go back to first room, call the front desk, guy says "I have no idea whose stuff that would be." Okaaayyyyy then. So we're fully prepared to put all 6 of us in one room, since you know, they had no other rooms available. But miraculously the guy finds us another room with 2 Queen beds. Interesting. We get our stuff in there, go to dinner, come back, THE ENTIRE HALLWAY SMELLS LIKE WEED!! Not to mention it's 11pm and the people in the room next door were loud as h-e-double hockey sticks. So we call front desk again and ask if we can all just share a room and get a refund for 2nd room. Front desk girl MIRACULOUSLY finds us a new room, with two queen beds..... JUST ACROSS THE HALL FROM THE KING BED ROOM! Interesting...I thought they had no more rooms available. Minor details of awfulness: mildew smells in room, breakfast area too small, parking lot sucks, no ramp in back

Safety Hazard!!
I do not like having to give a bad review but I feel this needs to brought to someone's attention. The staff was very nice at check in and the room was clean. Unfortunately after returning back to the hotel that evening after a heavy storm the multi-leveled,tiled, lobby floor was very slick and when entering the lobby I slipped and fell down the steps, in front of everyone. The front desk attendant immediately asked if I was ok and at the time it did hurt but i was more embarrassed. He then told us that it happens all the time when it rains and he has told the management how dangerous it is. Later in the evening I could hardly move and was bruised badly all up and down my left side and had scrapes on my arm. The next day we were leaving and were talking to a woman in the parking lot who was surveying the storm damage from a tree on the property that fell on top of a jeep parked in the street. It turned out she was the owner of the hotel and we told her what happened and that those steps are dangerous and some tread really needs to be put down. She had no response, no apology, and just totally blew us off!! I was not trying to get anything out of it, I was not threatening to sue, I just didn't want anyone else to get hurt. I was lucky that I am just black and blue, scraped up, embarrassed, and sore, but someone else could break something or hit their head. This is not acceptable or safe!!

Close to St. Luke’s Hospital, comfy & quiet
Room was nice and clean. Beds were very comfortable, everything was quiet, nice bedding. Not very many plug-ins, so if you have a lot to charge, bring a USB tower. Breakfast was nice- lots of options, microwave available, and the room was very nice, updated, plenty of seating. Things that concerned me were that a) when we arrived, their key system wasn’t working, but our keys were somehow available already with our paperwork preprinted. The next morning, someone tried to open our door, but the deadbolt was down. It was someone there to work on our door lock. I wondered if our key was keyed at all. b) The staff was exceptionally casual. Cleaning women were hanging out on the stairs talking and laughing down from our room near the lobby drinking coffee from the breakfast area in the a.m. When we checked in, maintenance people, security people, managerial staff, and the front desk person were all hanging out in the lobby talking. We felt like no one was paying attention to us. And it wasn’t because they were fixing the keys, an IT guy was working on that. c) Lastly, don’t stay on the first floor. When we checked in, we were asked if we wanted another floor, but we said we were fine. In the morning, though, we opened the window to see we were at the bottom of a hill! Our window could have been really easy access to a burglar.

Noisy, unpleasant stay
Our arrival at the hotel was uncomfortable because a group of young women was congregating in the lobby who appeared either to be drunk or stoned or possibly both. They were incoherent and obnoxious, hollering at guests as they walked in and out of the hotel. The front desk staff were right there and didn't seem to feel compelled to intervene. When we got to our room on the second floor, the lingering odor of marijuana was very obvious. We left for dinner and returned a while later to find the odor had dissipated. We were given a room next to the Fitness Center and directly across from the ice machine with the elevator just around the corner. We were treated to lot of noise in the hallway and adjoining areas throughout the duration of our stay. Regardless of when we walked through the lobby, it seemed like staff were standing around at the front desk, just hanging out and chit-chatting. Seating in the breakfast area is practically nonexistent. The food was fine, but there is virtually nowhere to sit and eat. We like Best Western hotels overall and chose this one due to its proximity to UMKC and Country Club Plaza. If we're in KC again, we'll probably stay elsewhere next time.

Nice Place with a Few Tradeoffs
My wife and I decided to go to Kansas City for iur vacation and we were looking for a hotel near the attractions we had planned to visit. The hotel had good proximity to everything and it was average price so we booked it. The front parking area was full except for two or three spaces that had a warning sign up that you could park there at your own risk because the building next door had a fire and the structural integrity of the building was compromised. After we chuckled about this, we went inside and met the night shift worker who was far more interested in telling us how put out she was for having to do the morning staff's work and who was way more interested in watching videos on her phone than she was in being helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also very clean. The next morning we met the morning staff which were very nice and appreciative. We did have a problem checking out. We got so tired of waiting for someone to appear at the front desk that we just left the keys and took off. Not a bad place but the staff made the price issues not worth it.
