Beautiful Hotel, Disappointing experience.
The hotel is lovely. Conveniently located near an underground with lots of nice areas within walking distance. The hotel is very comfortable, charming and has a nice aesthetic. A couple draw backs, the shower in the bathroom flooded our bathroom floor every time we used it. We noticed this just after checking in and called the front desk to let them know. Instead of offering to move ya to a new room they offered to send someone up to have a look. The maintenance guy told us in more words that he could fix it but not while we’re staying in the room. Eventually I just asked for them to send up towels. On top of that the sheets our bed was made with had a two inch tear in it. We were staying there for our honeymoon so it was disappointing that the hotel wasn’t more accommodating or gracious. I guess that’s what you get when you book through a third party website?

This was during a "soft open", where they had only been open 2 months (July 2018). The staff was mostly great (esp. bell captains and cleaning staff, who were fantastic), with the exception of one bad experience with a night manager. I have a SEVERE allergy to down feathers. Most places can switch out the bedding very quickly and it's no problem. Here, when I discovered that all the bedding and pillows were down, I called the front desk. It was late at night as we'd been out sightseeing all day and evening. I was told by the night mgr that they had no other bedding or blankets available at all. Who plans a hotel with NO other options for bedding? The hospitality staff was able to get me a memory foam pillow, which was great, but all they had for a blanket was this scratchy wool thing that was super hot. I ended up having to sleep on just the bare mattress with no sheet. The night mgr had a real attitude, and told me that because I didn't put a note on my booking, there was nothing he could do. I asked what he'd have done if I had put a note on it, since he had no other options in the hotel anyway. He had no answer. It was clear that he didn't believe me anyway (the allergy is real and I've had to go to the hospital over it). He said he'd find another option for the rest of our stay and get back to us, but he clearly lied about that as we never heard back again. He said he'd put a note about getting us a credit, which also wasn't true apparently.

My husband and I can not wait to return to London just to stay at the Kimpton Fitzroy. Our stay was wonderful located directly near the train which made it extremely convenient. The staff at this hotel is genuinely kind especially the concierge. I can’t remember his name but he’s from the Netherlands and he was so kind to give us recommendations since that was our next stop on our trip. Russell Square is a lovely area and would highly recommend staying at this property. The rooms are fairly small but we didn’t mind it because the property is so beautiful your rarely in your room. The restaurants and the bar on property are wonderful! We can’t wait to return.

Outstanding Hotel and Staff, can't wait to go back
I've stayed at this hotel long ago when it was the Russell Hotel, which was a great experience and this stay was above exceptional. We encountered some minor issues with an outlet not working and they immediately brought us an extension cord to use another outlet. The double double room can fit a family of 4 comfortably but the set back is not much room for 4 bags of luggage but we made do very easily. The Doorman, Georgie, I believe his name was, is EXCELLENT! Our kids, 10 and 11, adored him as he was very friendly and easy going to talk with. Concierge staff were equally excellent and helpful. Loved that they kept Fritz's bar as it is a charming spot to get a nightcap before going back to your room. The maids were excellent, any request we had, the happily fulfilled and then some. It seemed the whole staff went out of their way to be kind and helpful. Everything was beautiful in the newly done rooms and I was very pleased to see they kept the original marble first floor, it has and still is very stunning. I can't wait to go back, this is always going to be my hotel of choice.

All I can say is wow. The Kimpton had to be one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at by far. The staff and cleanliness of the rooms are unmatched. It is very close to the russel square line and it’s not that bad of a walk to main attractions like the London eye and Chinatown. Rooms were comfortable and very clean, and the restrooms are extremely clean and modern for the hotel. The hotels style is a mix of old and modern. Gym was extremely big, and had a complementary supply of towels and water bottles. Every room comes with complementary water, snacks, drinks, and so much more. I would definitely be coming back whenever I can come visit London again!
