Former grand hotel in need of redecoration and clarity about services for 4 star hotel. Should only be 3 star maximum. Everything standard in other hotels you have to pay extra for: WiFi access, Safe access, no kettle in room, 5 euro charge for room service, pay for spa, pay for using the gym, evening meals quality very poor so ate out most nights despite being half board.

Plenty to do without even leaving the hotel grounds. Best variety of buffet food at breakfast and evening meal that I have come across. Cold buffet available for late arrivals. Good evening entertainment. Efficient and friendly.

The room allocated was located at the furthest corner in the hotel with a dark hole of a veranda overlooking a carpark. We immediately requested an up grade and were happy to pay for this however the only upgrade they could offer was a Superior Suite at an increased cost of 8,000 Euros although they did discount this to 4,000 Euros. So we decided to check out and move to the Radison Blu hotel some 10-miles away.

Firstly I want to stress that I absolutely loved staying at this hotel. The grounds and pools are spectacular. The criticisms I have I hope would be constructive. Firstly as others have mentioned, paying for the use of a safe is an annoyance when already paying for an expensive hotel. Secondly, I felt that the staff there could have done with a friendlier attitude. There were only 1 or 2 who stood out as providing particularly good service during the week I was there. Many staff didn't say hello or even smile. The barman at the pool bar told us off for looking at the menu whilst sat on the bar stools. He said they were paper and we shouldn't have them by the water. Not our fault that they had no laminated menus. You are allowed to eat food whilst seated in the water which seems like more of a problem if you dropped any! The pools could do with a little tidy up of the tiles, and the end of the infinity pool is a bit of an eyesore and nothing like the scale model that can be seen inside the hotel. General tips that i feel would be of benefit to the environment and to guests....why not have a little outdoor area where guests can leave unwanted lilos for new guests. Also the same for books....a shelf with used books on for guests to help themselves to, with perhaps a charitable donation.

Swimming pool excellent.. sun bed availability terrible ( people reserving sun beds by 8 am non turning up till well after 12..) Breakfast variety good, bedrooms ok but a bit tired in need of make over.. the option to pay more for unique rooms sounds more like a gimmick than offering any benefits. Shame about the negatives - love the location and the pool and it was our 4th time there .. but the subbed situation plus their introduction of the unique rooms does put us off from choosing this place again..

It is clear that taking care of over 1000+ rooms takes its toll and many upgrades are needed, which the hotel is addressing. The grounds and the pools are amazing. Service is professional and very efficient. When staying as Half-Board; you have a virtual cornucopia of choices. I'd like to note that people complaining about the queues at breakfast & dinner should arrive earlier to avoid the rush. We only had to queue once - we arrived for breakfast around 8-8:30 am and dinner around 7 for a whole week and we had no issues. If you arrive late and insist on your party of 12 sitting together then I guess you do have a wait ahead of you. They have large round tables for this purpose but obviously many tables are made for 2-4 diners. Food is a large variety of European style food (including the UK Breakfast) I personally found the lack of soups an issue (but hey this is not Thailand) The rooms are in good shape and as far as I can tell they all have a balcony. We wrote to reception and requested a quiet room (don't care about views/double bed) we got a room on the fifth floor overlooking the mountains to the North. Obviously no much balcony sun, but in a hotel like this, there is no need. The grounds are immaculately kept with 4 different pools available for every want and need. There is a NO RESERVE sunlounger in operation and this seems to work. There are many sunny & shadow areas. We found that we did not need to leave the compound for the week. This was a great holiday!
