Fabulous if quirky hotel with completely brilliant
We stayed at Hazlitt’s for the first part of a three week European trip and it was everything we hoped. Discreet, stylish and definitely not run-of-the-mill. Yes, the floors are uneven and creaky, and the bathrooms are ... interesting. But the overall experience is quite lovely. Service is understated but excellent, with 3am jet-lag coffees delivered to our room in minutes, without fuss (or charge) and a brilliant “honesty” bar available 24 hours. If you’re looking for generic, modern hotel fittings, standard rooms and flawless climate control, you probably better look elsewhere. But if you want something a bit special, where you have to ring the doorbell to be let in, this could be just the place. Hazlitt’s is the complete antithesis of the modern chain hotel, and all the better for it.

Hazlitt's Stay
Great location, lovely hotel and staff. Staff was helpful and friendly. They were there 24 hours a day. The hotel is located right near many restaurants and pubs. So there is always lots going on in the evenings. If you chose to stay inside though.... It's far enough away that you have peace and quiet. Hotel itself are houses built in 1718 so there are creaky and slanted stairs which i think are not a big deal. There is no lift, but there was someone there to carry my luggage up to the top floor to my single (Mrs. Newdigate) room. Breakfast is extra and must be ordered night before. I can't say how good it was because I always went out early and ate elsewhere. There is no tube or bus stop right outsude your door but there are many just a short walk away (4-5 minutes). I'd stay again if I can afford it. It was pretty pricey.

Oozing with character
I felt like I was in an Agatha Christie novel when staying in Hazlitt's Hotel - it had so much character every single inch! I really liked the hotel book in the room with short descriptions of all the guests who lived in the hotel at some point. Be prepared for a rather...unique toilet though. Aside from the strange toilet situation (good luck getting on it if you're short!), I was surprised the bathroom sink didn't include any soap - I ended up just using the shower gel instead, but was a strange miss. If you're looking for a quiet hidden gem in trendy Soho, though, this is a great place for you!

Haven of Peace in busy Soho
We stayed 6 nights as part of a London stay-cation. Location is excellent and whilst in the midst of busy Soho, as you step through the hotel door a sense of calm envelops you. Staff are excellent. We had the in-room breakfast most mornings and it is simple but good. The hotel has some nice downstairs characterful sitting rooms that are pleasant for having a coffee or a drink. You are hardly aware of there being other guests in the hotel at all. There are some niggles which is why we did not give it a rating of 5. The heating a/c thermostat was bizarrely outside the room in a small lobby so of course there is no control of the temperature in the room. The street outside did get noisy at times in the night but I guess you are going to get that in Soho.

Hazlitt's is in the most fantastic location - 15 minutes to the British museum one way; 15 minutes to Trafalgar Square the other way. The area is lively but once in the hotel it is very quiet. The room was excellent - spacious, comfy bed, good shower - and the staff friendly and obliging. Would definitely stay again!
