Fair 4.0
Customer service was awful.
Booked for a break for myself and my partner for 1 night. Never experienced here before so was really looking forward to it. From the second I arrived I found the reception staff to be rude, ignorant and not at all warming. This was just the start. I wasn't very well during my stay so didn't feel like eating out in the restaurant therefore I called reception and asked if it would be ok to order something into the hotel. I was spoken to with awful attitude advising that she couldn't allow me to bring food in and any deliveries would be sent away. I understand certain policies, however it was the way I was spoken to and the manner it was delivered. I then enquired about the restaurant times to which I was advised it closed at 10. I had a shower then went to use the hairdryer to which it sounded like it was going to blow up. I requested another 1 as it wasn't working and they sent another broken 1. I then called back..again getting attitude and they brought a third (all in all this took 20 minutes). Finally arriving at the restaurant I was met by the restaurant manager who advised me that I had 2 minutes to order food as they were closing. I explained that the receptionist advised me they stayed open till reply from him was "It's my restaurant i know what time i close" he then advised us that they do tapas till 10 so that's why maybe the reception girls got it wrong. Either way we were not advised of this. I would never go back here dur to the very poor customers service

Service stops after 10pm :/
I recently booked to go away here for my boyfriends 25th birthday, on arrival service was great we went for a drink before check in and then booked our spa passes before getting into our room which was gorgeous. Dinner was amazing the Thai restaurant had gorgeous food, pretty expensive but work the money for the big portion we got, although we had to have dinner early due to wanting to spend time in the spa which closes at 10pm, the spa was lovely with good service and the astmosphere was so relaxing, after we left the spa it was 10pm and too late to grab any food from the restaurant and were told room service ended at 10pm therefore we were left hungry with no means of getting food or snacks from the hotel, we took matters into our own hands and ordered some food to be delivered as we had dinner early we became hungry after a few drinks celebrating my boyfriends birthday. As the food arrived the lobby staff turned us away and told us under no circumstances could we take food into our room? Leaving us pretty annoyed and discouraged to come back. Therefore we had to eat our food in the car park in the car at 1 o’clock in the morning at -4. Pretty discouraging as staff were rude and made comments/remarks about our food choice in a sarcastic way and we were left cold, annoyed and not very welcome to go back. Overall lovely place for food and spa but lots of little regulations to follow after the amount we paid to be there for a special occasion, don’t think will be back.

Very good 8.0
Stayed at Ramside for 2 nights for my birthday.our room was large and clean it had a comfy king sized bed and modern bathroom the woodern funiture needs replacing as its very worn. The spa is fantastic it was a shame the saura wasn't hot.We ate in the fusion resturant which was nice but pricey, wasn't impressed with the breakfast most of the plates and dishes were dirty on both mornings think they need to clean the dishwasher, the food on the first morning was cold and on the second we didn't get our teas until we'd almost finished. We requested a wine cooler from one of the bar staff and was told we couldn't have one without buying a bottle of wine we've been to lots of hotels around the uk some being 5* and never had a problem getting one before. Most of the staff were polite but we were sat in the lounge area on the first night close to the reception when someone rang down to complain about something the receptionist was polite to them until she put the phone down she then started to complain about the guest to another member of staff her language was appalling they obviously didn't realise we were there.Nice hotel but won't be returning because of the problem with breakfast cleanliness and some staff.

Very good 8.0
mostly good
We stayed in the McIntyre suite which is a beautiful room; couple of minor niggles with releasing plugs from both sinks, which was sorted quickly. Some lack of information provided at check-in regarding breakfast times and location (although can be found in room); We upgraded £30 per person for additional spa access; we frequent 5* spa hotels frequently and have never had to pay additional fees for enhanced spa use. This upgrade does not give you access to the the additional outdoor spa facilities situated on floor 1; there is an additional hourly charge for this. If we had not read details regarding the spa and additional charges on reviews prior to going we would not have known as no information regarding this is presented by the hotel; indeed i felt really sorry for those residents who went to follow us into the spa only to be unceremoniously halted or could be seen in frustration trying to use their access bracelets to enter the spa area to no avail. We ate one night in the rib room; was OK, over priced for the quality of the food; Breakfast: cold buffet offerings very good; hot breakfast offerings not so good (read the menu on the table, you can order fresh hot produce which is good (again not made clear by staff who showed us to the table on day one and told us it was all self service; should be made clear to residents when shown to the table that there is also the possibility to order from the menu ); bus stop outside takes you straight to city centre which is great

Lovely hotel and top spa
We both stayed in the Coleman Suite. Apparently the bride and groom stay in these rooms. The bathroom was gorgeous nice big room with large flat TV on the living room wall. Leather Chesterfield which was quite worn. The balcony was really nice but the white cast iron table and chairs had green Moss on and hadn't been washed and outside should have been swept and washed. Our bedroom was nice but think the whole suite apart from the bathroom could do with a revamp. It just looks a bit old fashioned. The reception staff weren't the happiest of staff and we had an issue using the outside spa after I had been told days before that we could pay on the day £50 extra per room. They explained that it was very busy so could not accommodate. I was told to try the spa direct so went to see them straight away. We managed to get booked in which was the main point of going there in the first place. The spa is a must so pay the extra money and pay the spa direct before you stay. If you have any concerns there is a concierge called Guy and he is fabulous will help with any concerns. We ate in the rib room. Best steaks I have ever tasted and staff were extremely friendly.
