Practically perfect in every way
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely book a room here again. This hotel has the best of everything: clean rooms with nice private bathrooms and showers, a welcoming and friendly staff, an excellent continental and hot breakfast included and a perfect location within walking distance of Victoria Coach and Train stations that provides easy access to all of London. It's a great place to stay for a pre-cruise vacation in London. We stayed in the Pimlico room on the lowest level. It was clean, comfortable and had a nice private bath with a nice shower. The room also had 2 USB power ports for charging mobile devices. The bed was reasonably comfortable. We very much enjoyed the breakfast that comes with the room. The hotel restaurant is small but nice with a very friendly staff and very good food. I particularly enjoyed the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast. I would have liked the restaurant to open earlier, but I can't complain. You can get a continental breakfast, a near-full English breakfast or something in between. Although there is an elevator the entrance has a step and no visible wheelchair ramp. Contact the hotel first if you have mobility issues to ensure that they won't impact your stay.

I cannot even begin to tell you how disappointing this property was. We stayed in 3 different hotels during our time in London and this was by far the worst even though I spent nearly $100 more each night thinking I was going to give us something nice for our last few days. First off, you have to ring the bell every time you want to go in and out and they unlock the door from a clicker. Not knowing this, when we arrived, I rang the bell and waited. The guy at the front desk literally yelled at us when he opened the door to let us in. Not a good start. Second, I’ve never seen a room and bathroom this small in my life. The shower is so small that if you think you are going to have a shower without water spraying directly in your face, think again. There is no shelf in the shower for your shampoo, etc, so when you bend down to get them you will bump your head. It was miserable. The toilet did not flush properly and had to do it 2-3 times to get toilet paper to go down. The room was dingy and hadn’t been updated in quite some time. The fake antique furniture had places where the veneer was peeling off. Forget about adjusting your heat because they control that and it was so hot at night I woke up in a pool of sweat. Oh, and if you leave the hotel, they make you turn in your key like you are a toddler and might lose it. Made me very uncomfortable to say the least. My recommendation is not not even consider this place. There are far nicer for way less money.

The Windermere is very well located - it only takes a few minutes walk to Victoria Coach station and Victoria Station for the tube and overground, and there are plenty of places to eat close by. The women who work in the dining room were all delightful and the room was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was also of a very high standard - fresh fruit salad, smoked salmon, haloummi etc. However, I cant really recommend the hotel for business travellers. The walls are very thin and the floorboards are very creaky so my sleep was poor. The male night receptionist was also very dismissive of me after the people next door had disturbed me at 11.30pm on a week night. My impression was of a very hardworking team of women doing all the hardest work and always being super friendly and polite and of a rather indifferent set of male staff which was weird.

We stayed at the Windermere Hotel for eight nights in December. It is located in a quiet, safe residential area. We were pleased to find it a quick 5 minute walk from Victoria station. We arrived in the morning and left our luggage with Emily, who let us know check in was at 2 pm and our luggage would be placed in our room for us. We were in Room 21 (The Alderney) which is a classic twin room situated on the corner of the building. The room was comfortable and quiet with plenty of amenities. The location of this hotel is central to most attractions, with plenty of shopping and dining nearby. The close proximity to the Victoria station makes it very simple to get anywhere in London. We actually found ourselves walking everywhere. A couple of the nights on our stay, we had dinner downstairs in the restaurant. They had recently gone through a renovation and rebranding. The service was top notch and the food was delicious. Throughout our stay we got drinks in the bar and had the opportunity to chat with some of the staff, including the chef Jacob who was a delight. Our server on our first evening (2 December) was also lovely to talk to. In the mornings our complimentary breakfast consisted of a cooked selection from the menu as well as selected continental breakfast items. The service and food was just as wonderful and the breakfast kept us from getting hungry until later in the afternoon. The Windermere was a wonderful place to call home while we were in London.

London Break for 2
The hotel was fully booked but you could not tell. It was quiet and no luggage in corridors or people hanging around. You are buzzed into the hotel through an intercom on reception which looks at the entranceway. Check-in was swift and we shown to our room to ensure we were happy with everything. We were able to book our table in the Brasserie in the basement for that evening and were given instructions to find the nearest underground and over ground station. A little map was available. There were ample towels, an alarm clock with Ipod/Iphone charging, tea/coffee making facilities in the room with free mineral water on behalf of the hotel. Refilled on request. The bed was comfortable, and the room could be air conditioned if you did not want to open the window. This depended on which room you were in and if it was overlooking Warwick Way. This has passing traffic all night. The evening Brassiere meal was superb, the selection ample for such a small hotel and a nice selection of cocktails, beers and wines. You did not feel rushed or crowded but it was not very busy on our visit. It may be during the week if there are a number of business guests during the week. Breakfast was in the same room and the continental offer, fruit juices and a full cooked breakfast. All was cooked well and no issues with any meals, drinks or service staff. All staff very polite and ensured you had no problems. If you did, then I can imagine they would be dealt with swiftly. Check out was easy
