Love this place, just keeps getting better
My second time here and this was even better than the first, because a) I realised how easy it is to walk into the centre of downtown from here, and b) I asked for a ground floor room where the wifi signal was great, which is indispensible for me for work purposes. Old Salem is on the doorstep and is fascinating for history lovers. Two minor areas for improvement - the room was a little cold in the daytime, and the breakfasts did not have much variety, was pretty limited for a 'continental' breakfast

A real gem in a beautiful location
We wish we had booked more nights. It was a delightful hotel. Beautifully furnished and very friendly staff. We would highly recommend.

Does the job but lacks soul
I try and stay in 'Historic Inns of America' if there is ever an option available when I travel to the US on business. The Historic Brookstown Inn fitted the bill very well, it was clean and modern but I found it a little soulless. There were nice touches like free wine and cheese, or cookies and milk, but aside from the architecture, it could have been a holiday inn. My major complaint though was that for the first time in my experience, neither of my android devices was able to connect to the wifi, although my laptop and iOS devices were fine. From researching on Google this seems a simple thing to fix by adjusting the router, however despite the front desk acknowledging that this was a known problem, there was no apology or any evidence of a desire to solve the issue. This might sound picky but being unable to connect to wifi with your cellphone while on a foreign business trip is a big deal, otherwise keeping in touch with family at home is much harder. That is why I always look for hotels with in-room wifi. The lighting in the room was also gloomy in certain areas

Beautiful Brookstown!
This is an absolute gem of a hotel located in a wonderfully restored cotton Mill on the edge of old Salem town. The room was huge and well appointed with wonderfully comfortable beds. Breakfast was great, plenty of choice and space with a variety of furniture of the period. Staff were most helpful and interested in your holiday experience. Lovely shaded garden to sit and relax with visitor centre attached to enrich have your experience. We really enjoyed this hotel.
