Hotel Cancun Clipper Club
Good
Affordable, quiet, one block off the strip
Not a fan of hotel zone period (too loud, busy, touristy - I usually stay on Isla Mujeres), but for an overnight to make an early flight this hotel works. It's age is showing, but location quiet and short walk off the strip, 24hr gate guards, more affordable than anything else in the area. Bus service short walk from hotel. Lagoon is posted as non-swimming due to crocodiles, didn't go in the pool, which was a decent size, but aging. Grounds were beautiful, but mosquitoes due to lagoon. Lot of local taco food choices one block over (Behind McDonalds) that are not pricey. Close to clubs that party all night if that's your thing (walking distance) - I left at 545am and the clubbers from Coco Bongo were just walking in). Wi-Fi only in lobby. If you want to stay in Cancun cheap to party all night and take quick bus to beautiful beach (5-10 minutes away from this hotel) and don't mind bare bones accommodation, this hotel will serve your purpose.

Hotel good value for money - area tourist rip-off
Hotel good value for money. Clean. Friendly staff, also very helpful with planning trips / excursions. Sometimes issues with command of English language. WiFi only in reception / lobby, not in rooms. TV in room, but neither water kettle nor fridge. Air condition and ceiling fan in room. Restaurants nearby ok, but expensive (Tourist style). Supermarket nearby. Hotel located near on of the night life centres of hotel zone. Only few public beaches in area - other beaches owned by hotels and not accessible. Our hotel is on Laguna side of hotel zone - does not own beach. Visit to local Mayan ruins worth the effort and entrance fee. El Rey (at hotel zone) and El Meco (nearby) reachable by public bus. Huge offer of (frequently over-priced) water sports, diving, excursions, etc. Try using public transport for trips, and buy entrance tickets at destination / online. Do not rent a car - corrupt police as soon as you leave the hotel zone!

Very Good
First time to Clipper Club
Area of hotel is right downtown near all the shops and nightlife! Some good restaurants near by as well. But far enough away that this hotel is also peaceful! Very basic hotel but has everything I personally need, staff was friendly and the restaurant at the hotel has good food. Pool is decent size but definitely could use some upgrades, also swim up bar wasn’t actually open which was kind of disappointing. Overall I would rate this hotel 4 stars out of 5 and definitely would return again!
