A pretty disappointing stay. Firstly I will say that the rooms are clean, basic but have everything you need and the beds were comfy. The staff also were very helpful with a couple of queries we had. But the hotel itself is very tired and dated. It looks modern on the outside but the inside is quite stately home-ish. It is vast with a pizza place, a restaurant and a couple of bars open. The whole feel of the place is quite odd, it could be superb but it hasn't had work done on it for many years I would say, with a hotel so large I can't imagine where you would begin! It's all perfectly serviceable but not really very nice. We ate at the pizza place which is also very dated, fast service and good portion sizes but limited evening meal menu when you discount sandwiches and jacket potatoes! It had free wifi, you just had to log on every half an hour which wasn't a problem. We asked to stay an hour later on the Sunday so we could take the kids for a swim but they charged us £10 for this. My career background is hotels and I know on a Sunday night it is highly unlikely they would need our room that night so it was a bit of a rip off. Also they charged us £12 to use the swimming pool and £2 per towel, when you are a resident you would expect it to be complimentary even if it is owned by another company. To summarise it served a purpose but we wouldn't recommend it or stay again.

'Sleepin is cheatin'
Stayed recently on a Saturday night, first impressions were good. We checked in at a busy reception wasn't advised on the breakfast room and times.. but we asked about this later before leaving for the day.The room we had was a 'cheap' room small, no view out the window. But appeared to be fairly comfortable. After a long day/evening spent in Manchester we got back around 11pm, the hotel was busy and buzzing from a wedding/party. Unfortunately the party was spilling out the function room into the hotel corridors we walked passed the guests sniffing outside Jenny's restaurant and their young kids were running riot up & down the corridor with banging footsteps slamming doors & footballs we hoped our room would be sound proofed. Our room was next door to the disability lift which only amplified there shouts & screams. At 2.30 am I called reception to ask for help regarding the noise my partner had already spoken to the kids to keep the noise down. The noise continued with short periods of quiet in between it wasn't until the adults returned to their rooms at 4.30am & wished each other goodnight in the corridor that the noise ceased. I understand other guests have ruined my stayed here but the hotel could have done more knowing their hosting parties and have guests who are not party goers. It was obvious staff did not walk the floor of the hotel to help prevent noise & did not continue to visit our corridor after I made a call to reception. At 18weeks pregnant I needed my sleep :(

Car dormitory lacking in H&S & not fit for purpose
Annoyingly late arrival for a meeting having spent 30 mins circling the admittedly extensive car park, but which was severely lacking in space for hotel residents; vehicles were overflowing from all car parks and parked on every bit of the grounds, especially on the already narrow hotel access roads. I later discovered the majority of the vehicles mostly belonged to holidaymakers who had left their cars while out of the country. Other than for half a dozen very tired-looking and unappetising sandwiches, there was no food available in the coffee bar - the only source of food in the hotel during the day. This itself was not conducive to meeting with a colleague as it holds the swimming pool and facilities; the accoustics here are certainly not conducive to having discussions, business or otherwise, with no room on the small low tables for both cups and ipads/tablets/laptops. In the absence of a business centre/quiet area for business customers/residents, the bar was open for tea/coffee etc and seemed a better proposition, although it only had one table with a diameter greater than those of the coffee bar and seemed a reasonable alternative. However, the creche/nursery disgorged itself and a gaggle of mothers with their prams descended on the bar with their undoubtedly beautiful but very unhappy babies - the noise was horrendous and rendered normal discussion impossible.

Poor 2.0
Paper thin walls, hard bed, mold in bathroom
At first glance the room seemed okay, ample space and a tasteful decor. We were in room 258, this was quickly lost when we soon found out there is hardly any sound proofing. The person in the next room must have had OCD as they left and returned to there room every 20 minutes for at least 2 hours, normally you would not know this, but each time their door slammed shut the sound rattled through to our side. I don't know where the bathroom was next door but you could hear the bathroom noises as clear as if you was in the same room. A totally disgusting sound to have to endure. The other side of us was on the worlds longest phone calls. I could hear what he was saying, but I could also hear the sound of the person on the phone replying to them. I assume it was on loud speaker, but for heavens sake it was the next room, how thin are the walls? To cap it off, when these noises ended the snoring started. I would not wish that room on anyone and i will NEVER stay in that hotel again if you paid me. Even the shower had mold, have you heard of bleach or products to clean this? AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! When leaving they don't even bother asking you if you enjoyed your stay, I assume its because they know you won't have!! Wi-fi has to be paid for after 20 minutes!

Terrible place
Awful place. As contractors we only expect basic amenities but this place is lacking. Upon check in i found half eaten biscuits and large empty bottles of volvic under my bed. Hairs in my bath, no signal at all, 20 mins of wifi free then its £7 per day. We had 2 rooms booked, both had to change them midweek due to stuff not working. One bath wouldnt drain as it was blocked and reception said persevere the first day, 2nd day they let us move. Other room had faults in bathroom again, this time with the fan making a screeching so loud the rooms next door would complain. Got new rooms which is a pain but fair enough. Then upon check out were told we owed £10 for changing rooms. Laughed this off as told its a mistake. Got home and they have charged card without any permission or warning. Very sneaky. Also car park is horrid and over full with holiday makers cars Buffet dinner which says £13 in reception then £15 when you actually pay is horrendous. Old, plain absolute vile. Working in area for months, and its cheapest place around. But even we have standsrds, vile place.
