Harbor View Hotel
Hotel is tired and dirty
Hotel was dirty in need of a refurbishment. It felt as though the communal areas were "back of house." Piles of dirty, worn carpets, damp smells. Clearly the hotel used to be something special, but it is not worth its current rating and the photo gallery certainly does not reflect the current condition. We had no hot water for 3 out of our 5 day stay.

Beautiful hotel
Excellent hotel. Charming and elegant. Sadly room didn't have a view of the ocean. Excellent food at dinner and breakfast. A bit of a walk from the town, as we didn't have a car. Would definitely recommend though. Visited at Easter which is out of season so most shops are closed. Excellent local bus service around the island.

the location of the room was lovely, we could walk into the pool and had our own patio area but the room smelt funny due to a wet carpet caused by the air conditioning unit we think. We felt a little disappointed given the cost of the room and the response from the front desk. We would return to the hotel as its location was beautiful but feel staff could have responded better

Surprised that the bathroom in our room, was in need of updating. When paying over $500/night, we expected everything to be close to perfect.

Soon to undergo a much-needed facelift...
I love the Harbor View Hotel. We were told it was recently purchased by another party and it will shut down for the entire winter of 2018-2019. I hate to say to say it but it really does need the renovation. We stayed in the other building out by the pool and it is badly in need of repair. We had an end room with an uneven floor so the drawers in the bureau kept rolling open and wouldn't stay shut. Housekeeping left something to be desired. (For the prices they charge, it's hard to overlook these things.) However, the wait staff and the front desk couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. It's still the best hotel on the island for my money. I'm sure they will come back stronger next season...possibly for a price.
