heaven can wait ...

The superb service of the Grand Hotel began before we even arrived in Heiligendamm. Frau Römer responded immediately to our questions and requests per email and reserved a junior suite with sea view as possible upgrade in advance. Dogus made us feel at home from the very first minute of check-in, took time to show us four other possible rooms and suites, and informed us about the history of the hotel and the services provided. We already felt at home during our first breakfast in the magnificent Kurhaus with the nice lady from Sri Lanka serving us with freshly prepared egg dishes, pancakes, waffles, and porridge. By the end of our third breakfast we felt as if we'd known Ulrike, Alex, and Ricardo for years, who took our coats, led us to our table, found time for personal small talk, and made us feel like royalty. The location of the "white city at the seaside" is of course world-famous not least due to the G8 summit held there years ago, and of course we were awed by the historic buildings perfectly restored and meticulously kept up, and we enjoyed every minute of our very comfortable room with a Baltic Sea view. But what made the Grand Hotel Heiligendamm truly grand were the wonderful people we met there. Maybe the management has been lucky with whom they've chosen to employ, maybe the employees have been lucky to have such great people to work for. We are certainly grateful for our 4 days in paradise.

It was a very pleasant stay. The front desk staff were very reserved, and we didn't get the impression that they were happy to see us arrive. The pool and sauna area are very nice. However, the hot tub wasn't working, unfortunately, and many children were swimming around wildly without supervision. Breakfast and dinner with table service at the Kurhaus were excellent. Unfortunately, the beach was very unkempt.

This really is a grand hotel. Would go again. However …. Service was patchy. A good 5 star establishment has greater refinement. Too many small details missing: no tea bags in room, no fresh milk in room fridge, repeatedly tables were laid without a fork or a knife. They don’t know how to serve hot tea - The private beach is beautiful - but nobody checks whether towels are available, nobody clears up during the day.

A beautiful hotel in a breathtaking location. The room was well apointed and had a beautiful sea view. The location is exceptional, however, based on the price point, there a few moans. The guest internet was down from the Wednesday to the Sunday, with a standard, we will talk to our IT department, but with no change in the situation. If I had needed to work, it would have been a nightmare. A modern hotel needs to offer connectivity. This has cost me in additional roaming charges. Also charging 28 euros to move your car 3 meters, is more than a bit excessive.

Eigentlich ein sehr schönes Hotel, wenn auch etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Aber der Service entspricht niemals einem 5* Hotel. Für den bezahlten Preis ist es eine Schande... Hier ein paar Lowlights: - In der Bestätigung steht, dass das Zimmer ab 15:00 parat sei. Wir kamen um 16:00 an und das Zimmer war nicht parat. Wir mussten zuerst noch 20 Minuten warten. - Vor unserer Zimmertür stand ein Kinderbett mit einem Haarföhn und diversem Zeugs drin. - Beim Abendessen war das Tischtuch nicht sauber. - Beim Frühstück mussten wir ca. 1h 15min auf den Kaffee warten. Das essen bekamen wir jedoch "bereits" nach ca. 50 min. - Beim Frühstück sah es eher aus wie ein Schlachtfeld, das Personal kam hinten und vorne nicht nach mit abräumen. Es ist sehr schade: ein historischer Ort, ein sehr schönes Gebäude, aber leider haben sie es wirklich nicht im Griff.

Wir waren im Juni 5 Tage im Grandhotel Heiligendamm. Sehr schönes Ambiente. Zum Teil sinf Gebäude und Zimmer etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Die Anlagen ist sehr schön direkt an der Ostsee gelegen, SPA und Pools sind toll. Der Service leider nicht. Beim Frühstück war regelmäßig das Buffet leer oder es fehlte Besteck. Das Auffüllen hat lange gedauert. Die Bestellung vom Café hat nur zu 50% geklappt und sehr lang gedauert. Das galt insbesondere für das Wochenende bei voller Belegung. Da war das Buffet für die Zahl der Gäste auch schlichtweg zu klein und zu eng dimensioniert. Es gab leider noch mehr schlechten Service. Die Zimmer wurden nur oberflächlich gemacht. In 5 Tagen wurde nicht einmal die Bettwäsche gewechselt. Am heißen Samstag gab es kein Eis mehr an der Bar. All das wird dem selbst gesteckten Anspruch ein Grand Hotel zu sein und den Preisen bei weitem nicht gerecht. (Die 5 Sterne sind übrigens nicht von der DeHoGa oder Eurostars zertifiziert)

Sehr großes geräumiges Zimmer. Die Lage ist traumhaft mit direktem Zugang zum Strand. Der spa lädt ein den Alltag zu vergessen. Besonders schön auch der Außenpool. Verbesserungswürdig ist die Aufmerksamkeit des Personals, mit sehr positiven Ausnahmen beim Frühstück (älterer Herr) und in der Bar (junger Mann hat uns alternativgericht besorgt). Ingesamt sind einige Möbel im Hotel schon durchaus abgenutzt, das fällt auf und bräuchte Erneuerung. Über die Parkkosten wurde vorher nicht transparent informiert. Dafür ist das Auto direkt bereit.
