Shabby but not in a chic way
The positive was that the bathroom was clean. However, the base of the bed was disgusting, I didn't dare look at the mattress as I had nowhere else to stay. It made me question the cleanliness generally, there were spots of paint on the floor, a patch on the wall where someone forgot to paint or maybe a picture had been there. The table with the hairdryer on it was like white MDF with chips out of it, looked really makeshift. Just a bit shabby. When I told the Receptionist the room wasn't worth the 75 pounds I paid for it, she said the prices had been hiked because of the European Championships and when I commented on the filthy bed base, she didn't even respond. No apology, no explanation, nothing. I will not be staying there again, that's for sure. I also got about four hours sleep, there's no soundproofing, every time someone flushed the loo, had a shower, washed their hands to the left, right, above and below me, it made such a racket that I couldn't sleep.

Real food?
A very good and friendly welcome on arrival and I was pleased to see I had a real one bed single room. If there was a downside it was the full Scottish breakfast that had what appeared to be very thin reconstituted bacon, tinned mushrooms and tinned hot dog sausages. A little disappointed. The reception allowed me to arrive early and leave my bags so I did not have to cart them around Glasgow until booking in time and also allowed me to leave them on check out day for the same reason. This is so useful to leisure travellers. I must also reiterate the quality and friendliness of the lady on duty when I arrived, lovely lady.

should not be a hotel!!!!
there was no lift , and we were on the top floor. the entrance to reception was 3 flights of concrete steps. no one to help take luggage up 4 flights of stairs to the second floor. no help to bring down luggage. we did ask??. breakfast chef very abrupt--- we dont do bacon!!! all flowers and plants were plastic and dusty. garden was a small dirty concrete patch, covered in moss. the menu indicated -- we serve scottish kippers and haddock. when i asked for this -- we dont have any. so i said please dont have it advertise on large letters in the breakfast area on a chalk board, just rub it off. reply was -- oh we have it sometime!! the fire doors have large gaps, the intumescent strips were painted over -- this is defintely a fire hazard and breaches fire safety regulations!!!. no news papers. the hotel had a damp smell all the time. no lights on the side of the bed. exposed wiring in the wall for a small light over the dressing area-- why!! no hooks , or clothes hanging facility , when you go to the bahtroom- so you have to put your clean clothes on the floor!! no staff wish anybody good morning or smile!!! the staff look unhappy and over worked.
