Never Again!
We were arriving late following an 8 hour drive, and called the Hotel to advise of this. They stated that the restaurant was closed at 9pm. I said that is fine, will there be takeaway available in the area, they said yes. When we arrived around 10pm we had to unload our bags from the car, room was at the very rear of the Hotel, the Gentlemen at reception seemed somewhat inconvenienced by our arrival, rather than welcoming, we then had to return to the car as there was no parking available. We had to park about 500 yards on the town and return to it before 9am. Though we had no intention of rising early that morning. The room was small, smelled of mould and damp and the bathroom was in need of renovation to say the least. When we finally had chance to relax at the bar around 10.25pm, again the staff seemed inconvenienced by our arrival. We ordered drinks and asked if we could get takeaway food delivered and was told No??. We had not specifically eaten at the services en route, as not to delay our arrival any further, as we were advised we could get food. The Breakfast was then disorganised the following morning though the food was good quality if very sparse, see image, people were waiting and chasing breakfast orders. Overall not the best experience for the £121.51 price paid!

Poor 2.0
This hotel is being run on a shoestring budget with almost no staff and repairs ignored. There are serious health hazard issues with the property. Only cosmetic updates to the public have been made and the rooms remain in a disgusting state of disrepair. Our bedroom had an active sewage leak running from the toilet and shower which had gradually rotted the entire bathroom floor. Floor tiles rocked as the rotted floor squished, which caused the grout to discolour and most of it was missing. The leak and rot continued under the bedroom floor, simply covered by a carpet by management. (The hole was larger than a foot.) There was a smell of sewage throughout the floors. The hot water heating system was failing and one shower at night was cold (hot water at a trickle) and the next morning it was scalding and could not be cooled. Most disturbing was the graywater from the leaking pipes that came through the areas of missing floor grout and turned the floormat brown. Checking is and out was challenging with one person assigned to the task and often missing as they resolve all other issues for guests. We checked in late at 930pm and did not have a good look at the room until it was too late. Its sad the with a very tight occupancy market horrible rooms are still being rented when they should be closed and repaired immediately.

When we arrived at the hotel we thought that we had indeed made a good choice. The lounge at the front leading on to the bar was bright and very welcoming. The reception area was smart and the person on duty very helpful. However, it has to be said that the further into the bedroom area of the hotel, the shabbier it is. The room that we were in was not up to scratch. The carpets along the corridors leading to the rooms were not only shabby, they were stained and dirty. In their defence, there is supposed to be a big refurbishment programme underway. We saw no indication of that. Sadly, I must also say that I was less than impressed with the state of our room one morning. If there had been a maid in that day, there was little evidence of her presence. On the plus side, the restaurant is very good. The only meals that we had, however, were breakfasts. The staff were extremely and efficient and were attentive. The breakfast menu was really good, embracing local dishes as well as typical British breakfast menus.

Reasonable hotel but not what it said on the tin.
Hotel is in a beautiful place but spa facilities consisted of a sauna everything else was broken or unavailable. After talking to the manager as to why we couldn’t go in the outdoor hot tub he told me it was “too windy” but he didn’t even go out to see that the wind was blowing in a direction that didn’t effect the hot tub. He told me that he would review it in 20 minutes but didn’t return to tell us or just didn’t check. We paid good money and booked this hotel particularly for the spa facilities but we weren’t allowed to use them which was very disappointing. We also paid for a suite and most of the lamps didn’t work, the television didn’t work and the overall room was worn-peeling wall paper, holes in the furniture etc. For breakfast we ordered room service where we were charged twice for a tray service coming to £17.99 to bring two breakfasts up to the room which turned out to be on one tray. The breakfast was okay but not hot and we had to go back downstairs to get the butter which they'd forgot. However in the end after explaining all of this upon checking out the member of staff at the desk at the time was helpful and removed the extra charges of £25 from the bill.

The light bulb over the sink area was out in bath room, and the dresser light not working. (Not repaired before we left.) Phone did not work so I had to go to the desk person to tell them the 3 problems shortly after checking in. Shower door on the inside handle was broken so difficult to exit shower. We could not get the heater to work. Location was good for what we wanted to do. It was clean. There is an elevator but had to go up 3-4 steps 3 times before getting to the elevator. For someone with mobility problems this would be a problem.
