Mini break in York
Decent location less than 5 minute walk from city walls at Mickelgate. Room okay, maybe needs a bit of redecoration - part of skirting board missing. Breakfast was very good with varied selection and plenty of seating.

On arrival, I was greeted by a member of staff at reception and was booked in. They were very friendly, told me everything I needed to know, for example, what time breakfast is each day of my stay there. In my room, it was very clean and surprisingly spacious. There was a walk in shower with razor plug socket at the basin. I did, however, find that the toilet flush was broken on my last day which I didn't notice before. The room had ample wardrobe space with hangers provided and a hairdryer with a bag if you need the drycleaning service that they provide. Tea/Coffee are provided with a kettle and this is replenished each day of your stay. It also had a desk and a TV which had Freeview (I think). The double bed I had was very comfortable with lots of pillows provided if you needed them. The room has blackout curtains which didn't let any light through even though my room was next to the car park. Each day of your stay housekeeping routinely come round and checks the room, however, you can tell them not to come in by using your hanging card that the hotel provides, if you are staying in. The hotel itself has a bar and restaurant. I did make use of the dining room at breakfast, it consists of a breakfast buffet with cereal, toast, cooked breakfast selection etc. However, this is an extra charge. Other amenities at the hotel is a games room and internet access in the seating area. WiFi is also provided throughout the hotel and in the rooms.
