8/10 Very good

Grand and not pricey.
This hotel is a little out of the way but it is very grand looking especially on arrival. The inside is a little dated and could do with a little upgrade but it's clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The heater was not working in the first room that we were allocated, they soon moved us to a warmer and more comfortable room. My only criticism is that they charge £4.00 to use the gym and leisure facilities. But I guess for the price per night they charged I shouldn't complain.

2/10 Poor

Awful noise from kids running up and down halls. Bed was a double but tiny, poor duvet and pillow quality, not very clean.

4/10 Fair

Sad to see.
Well known local hotel to us which was always upper class for weddings and Xmas. Booked as we were meeting Friday locally. Very disappointed with the condition of the public areas and room. No investment for many years which is showing. Very poor food options including no room service. Seems to be set up for organised bus trips as the food is buffet style. We ended up eating out. Breakfast was the same which is OK but far too small an area for the volume of people. Staff were doing their best. I understand that many hotels have had to change their business model since Covid however I would like to have seen some basics back in place. We didn’t spend a single penny once checked in which given the budget price of the room is the only way they can increase turnover and there fire invest. Very very sad that a hotel with some good memories (including my wife who used to work there) is now not much than a big bed and breakfast. Check out on a Sunday was 10am which is also too early for those either having a relaxing weekend or recovering from a party! Won’t be returning.
