Free wifi only in lobby - not good for business
I went to a work conference and stayed here for 4 nights. I have to say the standard is so so for a W hotel. The most annoying thing is that they did not make it clear that the wifi in the lobby was free and was keen to charge me for in room wifi. Come on guys - these days and age what hotel still charges for wifi?? Really penny pinching from the W brand!

I booked a corner room with a view. The view was a caged parking garage and a rooftop on which there were some workers staring back at me. I cancelled, and while the staff were helpful enough to say that cancellation was fine and they'll contact, I'm still being charged for it. Whether this is the Hotel's or booking agent's fault, I do not know.

Great location in downtown
Great location, less than 10 min walk to Pike Place Market. However, there is nothing else right near the hotel.

Nice place in a nice location
Had a nice weekend getaway. Hotel is modern and well situated in downtown Seattle surrounded by plenty of things to do. Would definitely come back if just for the location. Parking here is expensive (68/nt). Parking garage steps away is only 39/day (but no in/out) and is actually used by the valets when the hotel lot is full. We did have to step past some sleeping homeless people between the hotel and garage (may be an issue for some not used to big city life). Had a nice corner room (with one side facing parking garage). At least 100 sq-ft of wasted space due to hallway entrance of room. Closet was only about 3' wide and half occupied by a nearly useless set of small drawers and shelves. Lighting and outlets were good. Couch/loveseat combo can be pushed together to make an extra bed. Large TV was mounted to wall and didn't swivel making it difficult to view from couch. Bathroom had ample counter space and good lighting but robe supplied was embarrassingly threadbare. Room was relatively quiet despite being on a busy street. Hotel has DJs performing in lobby on weekends. The ones we saw were really loud for the small crowd and not really catering to the clientele. You could barely hear the desk clerk. Staff was very friendly though.

Keep looking, this place is no place to stay
Wow, where to start on a lousy stay at the W? First, they only had one day of my reservation confirmed, had to show them the reservation for two days. Next we were booked into an ADA room, no we did not ask or want it, with no tub and an awful shower. On the second day our key didn't work, we were locked out. We had to make another trip to the desk to get the second day figured out again and our key card reactivated. When we got into the room that afternoon (3:30) it was not made up. Trash cans full, bed unmade, toilet paper not refilled, towels not replenished, nothing done. We complained to the manager of the poor service and we were told that it was all our fault! He said that booking through Expedia (which we had NOT done) made it impossible for him to do anything for us. He then said that the Hotel has until 5:00 to clean the room and if we'd leave he'd have someone come up and clean it now. Look, this is not Motel 6. At least there you know what to expect. Don't stay here. It's a rip off, poorly managed and run. Pretentious jerks at the front desk refer to everything as if they are in England ("don't take the first lift", etc.). Lot's of homeless on the streets and at Starbuck's across the street smoking dope and we even saw one shooting up in a doorway by the Hotel. Next time we come to Seattle we'll stay in Bellevue.
