Nice, but could be amazing
Nice hotel but it is tired. Rooms are nice but they are tired and you can see it. The entrance stinks of chlorine as you go in which is awful. We had an item taken by housekeeping and when we had to call for it to be located and returned there was no apology. Music played in the halls is too loud and goes on too late, at times it was hard to sleep with the noise. No thought on where things are in the room, we couldn't open our wardrobe fully without having to move a bedside table. Overall, a very nice hotel with an excellent breakfast (so long as you eat meat) and a nice pool (a little cold), but needs an update on the rooms.

A fabulous stay
We stayed for 3 nights, on recommendation from friends who have stayed several times before. And boy we were not disappointed - starting with the grand-looking reception with friendly and courteous staff. Polina at the check-in desk deserves special mention for upgrading us from a superior to superior XL room, and providing plenty of details on what to see and do in the city, including a number of places we didn't already know. The room was amazing - clean with a huge bed, and ornate finishing in the high ceiling. The swimming pool is exactly like the pictures show - combined with a jacuzzi and temperature controlled, so was very nice and relaxing to use in early February whilst it was freezing cold outside! We used the sauna for a bit as well, which was nice too. We dined at the 1890 Restaurant, the menu seemed a bit small but we both found something we wanted, I enjoyed the Carlo IV burger. The old bank vault that's part of the bar seating area is really cool. The hotel is located close to the main tourist sites, places like Charles Bridge, Wenceslas Square, Church of Our Lady before Týn etc are all walkable. It is also a short walk from the central train station, from which there is a direct Airport Express (AE on Google maps) bust to the airport every half hour - so can easily get there cheaply rather than use a taxi or other shuttle. As this trip was a 40th birthday present for my partner, sufficed to say she was impressed! We will gladly visit again.
