Great hotel let down by room servicing policy.

Great location, great reception, lounge and bar area. The biggest let down was there was no regular servicing of the rooms if you are a long stay guest, which seems to be their policy now? We had to demand our room be serviced at one point. Not sure why this is, every other hotel is servicing rooms daily, even when the lock downs were in full flow.

    An honest review

The room was not ready at the time of check in. The receptionist was abrupt. She wanted a credit card immediately to put a £30 hold on it, no explanation as to why. When asked questions she was very short. Not all the reception staff are like this just the trainee that we had the misfortune to be served by. Room was very clean if a little dated. Bar staff, drinks and bar food were excellent. Breakfast is very busy, COVID felt like a forgotten issue, self service, people all using the same serving spoons and no social distancing as breakfast food area is quite snug. Overall a good stay with some negative aspects, but I would stay again.

    Weekend in Newcastle

My job puts me in a budget hotel upto 4 night a week, so for a weekend away i booked in to the Hilton gateshead for what I thought would be more luxurious. Ok dont get me wrong its no travelodge but what do you get for the extra money. Lets start from the beginning. 2 nights parking for £20 is good, the carpark however was crammed . Check in was nice and pleasent. The room was large with comfy beds but tired deco. The view over the river seeing 3 bridges was lovely but they need to clean the windows . We only used the hotel as a base so didnt use the pool or spa Breakfast is very good with all you need on offer, never had anyother food so cant comment, but just next door is a place called River beat, serving asian tapas that was fab. We also only had 1 drink in the bar 1 large wine and a double vodka and coke for £25. All in all we enjoyed the weekend but next time im trying an ibis.

    Avoid pool/gym in this hotel

Avoid gym/swim lady that ran it very rude, unhelpful and clearly just wanted no customers or help any. Everything else as expected from a Hilton

Meet and greet is always excellent

The meet and greet from staff is great. The hotel views across the Tyne to Newcastle are wonderful. Choose a room with this view.
