Worth the price in every way
I have always wanted to stay at this hotel but was told it was very expensive and pretentious by others. I decided to try it for myself and what an amazing choice. The staff was very friendly and eager to assist. The room was like being in a castle not a hotel. The bed was amazing and the turn down service was a nice surprise. Included with your stay was breakfast, high tea and guest social. The food was not just simple it was elegant. Who offers filet at a guest social? They did including top shelf beer, wine and champagne. This hotel is superior however non judging which is normally my experience in hotels of this caliber. From now on, this is where I will always choose to stay. The experience is worth the price.

Beautiful hotel. Fastest check in I think we have ever had anywhere. It’s unfortunate that hotel guests basically have to share the amenities with anyone who wants to wander in off the street and crowd the elevator up to the rooftop (happened almost every time we got in). We tried to go up to the bar on Saturday after we checked in to watch the sunset and celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary but it was standing room only, even with police security checking people coming in at street level. There should be some priority given to hotel guests without having to pay $375 per person to do so. We had planned to relax by the pool on Sunday but didn’t bother because the layout of the rooftop space just did not seem to have any privacy at all, assuming the bar was open during the day.

I have stayed in all of the buzz worthy hotels in Charleston. On a whim I booked the Market Pavillion for our most recent trip. Bottom line is, we will never stay anywhere else from this point forward. The hotel is in an ideal location. It’s charming and hip all at the same time. The blackout curtains are the best in all the land. The rooms are quiet. The massive tray of pastries right outside your bedroom door in the mornings was a complete surprise and very much appreciated. The housekeeping staff was busy and there for anything you needed. I literally could go on and on. In a hotel, sometimes it’s just the little things that mean a lot. The hairdryer for instance. It was a full size, high watt one that made getting ready to hit the town that much quicker! Thank you Market Pavillion, for your wonderful hospitality! Can’t WAIT to visit again!

Happy to arrive, happy to leave.
The hotel was nicely decorated and the location was excellent. The check in process was not pleasant. The hotel has so much foot traffic for the rooftop bar that you get confused for a bar goer and not a guest. There seems that there were two levels of service once for the guests and one for the roof top bar guests. The elevators were too slow for guests as they were clogged up by the rooftop party goers and I did not like how the "priority elevator" was only for the service. The front desk staff were rude for the most part and not welcoming. I was charged an extra $110 on my credit card and a $25 fee for parking my car and was not informed of either. It rained all day and my room was not stocked with an umbrella which every other room had. This hotel has great potential but managing staff need to step up their game.

The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are spacious. Beds are comfortable and bathrooms are ornate. We appreciated the unexpected turn down service and cookies left by the staff. The bathroom toiletries, although hermés, stink but I had to use them as I had left my shampoo and conditioner at home. The view was pretty; seeing the market and the bridge as well as the churches. The elevator smells like a sweaty football locker and I did not like having to ride in it. Every time we stepped into the elevator it was humid and stinky which really took away from the whole experience. The staff was wonderful and the bell boy, Sean was incredibly friendly. I was born and raised in Charleston and only stay in our hotels for special occasions, this one being my husbands 45th!
