The hotel is nice and comfortable. On issue to pay attention is a train that is passing near the hotel and make a very loud noise 24 hours a day. If you have light sleep and will disturb you.

key extortion
A little run-down but the main problem is the noise of the super-long freight trains passing close by and sounding their VERY LOUD klaxons multiple times every hour through the night! Beware of outrageous charge of $75 for loss of room key.

Overpriced
Overpriced, accommodation needs an upgrade, wifi patchy at best and hotel would not cut short our stay despite our protestations once we'd seen the room and tested wifi. Plus freight trains run right next to rooms pretty much all through the night making s loud sleep extremely difficult. Not mentioned in website unsurprisingly. there are many better places in better locations for better prices in Banff.

Selfcatering
This is not a hotel but self catering. There is no restaurant but there is a small village store on site. kitchen ware was a bit limited and some was getting old. There was only one oven dish and there were no microwaveable dishes. Great location but it is right by a level crossing where the train uses it horn. Apart from that it was very peaceful.

We stayed here 10 years ago and decided to return for our anniversary this year. We stayed in a Deluxe One Bedroom Chalet for 2 nights like we did last time. The wood burning fireplace is always well stocked, and the Chalet is very cozy and comfortable. Things to note, the train tracks are very close, on average 4 freight trains pass by each night, and being right by a junction they are required to use their horns. The internet is all but unusable, just use your data on your cell phone. The TV in our Chalet was nearly dead, but were informed that they will be replaced soon. One last comment, after checkout an unknown rude staff member shouted across the empty parking lot that we couldn't park there, a little stunned and offended after spending close to $500, we moved our car and went for one last hike up to Silverton Falls, follow trail #2.
