Huge hotel, excellent location, good service
Room was well equipped. Good toiletries provided. Choice of three restaurants for breakfast, buffet, Western (which was good) and Japanese. We tried the buffet but we thought the Western breakfast was the best. American breakfast and yoghurt, salad, and plenty of bread. Concierge and front desk were very helpful.

The hotel is very comfortable and our room could not be faulted, we also benefitted from the conceirge and bell porters who were very helpful with an issue we had when we left our camera on the Shinkansen, they were attentive and resolved our problem very quickly. However on our last day we decided to book high tea to celebrate my wife’s birthday, we explained to staff that I had an allergy issue with fish and provided a letter in English and Japanese to explain that this would be an issue if I consumed any fish related products. Initially the staff were helpful and provided information on all ingredients on the high tea menu, when the food arrived we realised that a quiche provided as part of the tea included shrimp as an ingredient. This could have been very dangerous if this had been consumed and although the hotel apologised for the mistake I cannot stress enough that the consequences of this error could have been enormous and I really don’t think the hotel appropriately reacted to this issue both at the time AND after the event. Indeed I do not believe I have had an appropriate response from the hotel to date.

Review of Diaiichi Hotel
The hotel was quite central and close to many restaurants & cafes. This is a Japanese hotel which was lifeless and at times felt empty in the evenings.

It was very good.

Excellent hote and staff. Stay on the 19th or 20th
This place is amazing. Amazing staff from the greeters to the baggage people to the concierge. Great room excellently appointed. You should request being on the 19th or the 20th floors...these are the 'premium floors' with your own lounge with cocktails and snacks each evening with the nicest staff. Free complimentary booze in the room and the room refrigerator was stocked full each day and was complimentary. The location is walking distance to Imperial Palace across the road from the Shimbashi station. We were a party of four...two adults and two teenagers and they set up with four separate beds that were excellent...not simply rollaways. Everyone loved this hotel.
