You get what you pay for
We decided to go with Travel Lodge based on location and price. The location was great with easy access to Salamanca and waterfront. We checked in and we're told there was no onsite parking and had to park two streets away and to come back early the next morning to try for an onsite spot. It would have been nice if they offered the offsite parking complimentary or at least offered to book us a spot and let us know when it was available. We booked a room with a queen bed and when we got there it was a tiny room with a single bed also crammed in with hardly enough room to walk between the beds. When I rang reception to get a room like we booked we were told one was not available and we would have to pay for an upgrade. I was quite annoyed that I had to pay extra for what I had booked months ahead, but as I had paid in advance and the room offered was claustrophobic I had little choice but to pay for the upgrade. The second room was better but the quality of cleaning over the week we stayed wasn't great. There was a film of fine dust on tables and desk that was never cleaned, bathrooms were never cleaned properly and on several occasions we had to ask multiple times to get clean towels when used ones left in the bath were not collected. Overall I was very unhappy with the service and housekeeping and will not be choosing Travel Lodge again.

Good central location but...
Overall the place was decent for the price ($109 per night), it has an onsite breakfast option ($13 for continental and $19 for hot buffet) and then also has a limited room service option for dinner from 5pm. The staff were pleasant, responsive and helpful. The place was really easy to navigate to/from within the CBD as it was very central. Even though it was 4-10 degrees the week I was there, I am always hot, and I liked that it not only had air con but also that the air con temp was adjustable, so many hotels in queensland have them preset and you can't get them to actually blow cold cold air. The few foxtel channels were a decent set too - fox 1, 2, 3, 4 (sports), nickelodeon, a&e, lifestyle, fox 8, discovery. But the tv was a little weird - it'd shut off if you used the guide too long, and also the up/down channel buttons didn't work. The bathroom was tiny. If the shower had been any smaller, I don't know I could have gotten in/out - it closed weirdly, it was two sliding doors at a right angle that came together to enclose the shower, but because the shower head didn't move, you either had to freeze and just jump straight in, or you had to run the water a few seconds, and get water all over the floor. Even once in and with the doors closed, water still got all over the floor. The iron was cheap and no matter how long you left it to heat up, it just dripped on everything instead of steaming. There were hairs on the blanket. And no gluten free options for room service

Poor 2.0
new name doesn't improve
Was very disappointed in the room. The beds were very uncomfortable I didn't sleep the whole time I was there. The extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work so everytime we had a shower it steamed up and couldn't see what you were doing. Noise from the street was horrendous even with the window closed. Couldn't get parking on site the first night of stay and had to walk half a kilometre from cinema carpark back to Hotel, I was not told that I had to pre book parking on site when I rang to book the room. No Microwave in the room so couldn't buy food to reheat so lived on sandwhiches for the 2 days we were there. Room was right opposite elevator and all night the elevator was going bing everytime it stopped on our floor just another annoying noise. Reverse cycle airconditioner was very very noisy. All in all was very disappointed in the room the beds and everything about our stay other than the staff who were great.

Staff provide a friendly welcome to Hobart
Friendly welcome and helpful tips from the guy on the booking desk indeed all the staff were pleasantly and most helpful. Our suit/room was on the seventh floor and gave excellent views over St David's Park and western Hobart. It was a medium size room queen beed leather sofa decent TV kitchenette n bubble bath shower etc. Quite comfortable and cleaned daily. Thin walls made one aware of sounds but not a real problem as you sleep well after walking the hills of Hobart city. Compared with rest of Australia hotel rates are fraction higher in Hobart and the Travelodge was no exception and our stay was expensive. Nevertheless the Travelodge is well situated for Salamanca and the harbourside sights and restaurants but you need to be fit and active as it on a hill. We enjoy Hobart and will return.

Hotel For Overnight Stay, Not For Longer
The hotel was booked online for one week. On arrival we were given a room which was too small with single beds, and no shelves drawers or storage for any clothes. We were on a six week holiday and had a fair amount of luggage. We refused the room and said we would go elsewhere, and the hotel Manager got involved and said he would try to find us a bigger room, although the hotel was booked up. He eventually found us a room with a double bed and more space, and room for some clothes in a wardrobe. The Manager said that he would hope to move us to a larger room with shelves and drawers within three days. This never happened. The hotel was ready for a refurb and it showed. The staff were very helpful, but a hotel that actually caters for workmen and business people stopping for one night should not advertise itself as suitable for holiday stays.
