A dash of British class in the heart of Berlin

There are many sights within walking distance of the hotel, including the highly popular Checkpoint Charlie, 5 minutes away. The endless boutiques of Friedrichstrasse are nearby too, and it takes around 30 minutes by car to both city airports.

East Side History

One of the city's most famous stretches of the Berlin Wall, the Eastside Gallery, is a 10-minute drive. Topography of Terror is a 7-minute walk, and the hotel also offers guided tours, and is a great source of information point on local concerts, theater, or opera performances.

Taste of Britain

The restaurant serves international cuisine with a focus on British dishes in the evenings and pasta at lunch. Health-conscious guests can burn off their dinner in the hotel's fitness center which, as well as the sauna, is free for all guests.

Upset customer
The Hotel was lovely, however the weekend had a dance competition which was extremely loud and you could hear from my room which was on the 5th floor...there was a small sign in the lift advertising that it would be on over the weekend but no advanced noticed, or notice in the room. The music was playing untill 3/4am in the morning for 3 nights in a on a row. The second problem was, my partner and I was unwell and wanted additional towels and some cleaning products the clean bathroom. We asked at reception and was told there was nothing they could do untill the cleaners came the next morning. I explained there was sick in the bathroom and I needed to clean it but again "nothing they could do" apart from this, the hotel was a nice hotel and close to landmarks. Just don't go on a dance weekend!

Nice and centrally located hotel
Nice and very centrally located hotel. A little unlike other hotels as far as basics are concerned. The lift to the rooms is outside the reception, for instance. I enjoyed my stay in a rather nice room on the 8th floor with views over Berlin. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was of a decent size, although taking a shower would involve a huge step over the side of the bath. Somewhat disconcerting with a mobility issue, nevertheless, great water pressure. Soundproofing was good, in that both the neighbours' and the outside noise were kept at bay. My reservation included breakfast, so I was issued with coupons for breakfast in Da Vinci's restaurant on the ground floor. A good selection of breakfast items was on offer and coffee was plentiful. Lunch and dinner there were excellent as well. The hotel is served well by public transport Metro U6 (Koch Strasse/Checkpoint Charlie) and a whole load of bus routes. The BVG day card is good value. When ordering a cab it only takes a minute or two/three for it to arrive. The minibar in my room was well stocked and replenished on a daily basis. The staff were delightfully friendly and helpful. My only small cloud was the state of the carpet (stained near my bed) and curled up at the door to the bathroom. WiFi was as mediocre as it can get on the free option. A faster option is available against payment ..... really? How last century is that?

Great hotel, would stay again.
The hotel is just a few minutes walk from Check Point Charlie. Which is a great base to see Berlin. The open top bus tours can be picked up there and there are S Bahn and U Bahns near by, so it’s really easy to get about. If you like to walk it’s only about 30 minutes or so to the Cathedral and museum island. The hotel itself is very clean and quiet. The beds are very comfortable so you ged a good nights sleep after all the sight seeing. The reception staff were very friendly. It has its own bar and restaurant which we did not try. We went to the cafe across the road for a sunny spot and a cheap breakfast and a few beers in the evening.

Tired dated hotel in great location
Underinvested hotel. Old decor and not that comfortable. Great location and lovely old building just needs some money spending on it. Rooms are very dated and stuffy. €2 for lobby coffee is pretty mean in a 4* hotel but for only €20 you can have unlimited refills!
