Bad location
Travelling with children - it is not good to be given a room in the second floor backing into the lift and right beside the highway! Slept very little during our stay with traffic noise (including ambulances from the hospital right next door, which we were not aware was there in the description of hotel location!) Also, watching addicts begging at the crossing was unsettling. This also meant waking from the hotel felt unsafe. Even if reception staff had made us aware of this at arrival it would have been helpful! But, there seemed to be unwillingness to help! For example, We watched a lady being removed from the curtsy bus because she hadn’t ‘booked at reception’ even though there was more than enough room for her!

Location bad - Rooms good -
We stayed here mainly because of airport shuttle - which was efficient and the driver very friendly. The location is not so good - a lot of homeless people around so walking to a restaurant is not a pleasant experience. The rooms are clean and tidy but noisy - we stayed on eighth floor and were surprised at the level of noise from the street especially police sirens until early hours followed by air craft noise. Breakfast is good depending on the daily menu - Tuesday menu good - Wednesdays menu not to our liking. Free coffee all day - and fresh cool water and cookies also available. Negatives - it rained on the Tuesday night and we were surprised to see water dripping from the lift ceilings leaving puddles of water in the lifts. Also drops in reception area. Main reception staff helpful but the trainee certainly needs more training - not very helpful.

Staff amazing, location left much to be desired
Pros: The staff are amazing! They are incredibly helpful, warm and friendly and cannot do enough to help you to enjoy your stay. No matter what, they very pleasant and their smiles were natural and infectious. They genuinely seemed happy people which made us feel happy too! The 24/7 coffee/tea/hot chocolate in the lounge area was a bonus as were the homemade cookies every afternoon. The room/suite was spacious, clean and comfortable and the desk arrangement was good for working at. The Hampton Shuttle was really convenient for getting to the Boston Convention Centre and also to the Airport. Cons: If you could pick up the Hampton Inn & Suites and put it in a nicer part of Boston, it would be almost perfect. The location seriously lets this place down. It's right next door to a medical centre and hospital so you hear sirens 24/7 (now I know why they supply ear plugs with the complementary toiletries!). There are also 2 homeless shelters close by and problems with methadone use is obvious. I wouldn't explore the area by foot. You are better off getting a taxi to take you into the centre/waterfront of Boston. Breakfast also let's this place down. It's different every day which is good but it's limited. I was shocked that plates were card and knives & forks plastic. All of which we threw in the bin once we'd eaten our breakfast. It saves on the washing up, I suppose! But ... the Hampton Inn & Suites is expensive so real cutlery and plates should be standard.

Shameful
We had a very shameful experience at the hotel. One night the room next to us had people shouting all night and banging on the walls. They were smoking excessive amounts of weed and it was intolerable. We were unable to sleep all night due to the noises and the smell. They also were running up and down the hall all night. The next day I sent the hotel an email complaining and I told the front office but none responded and they didn’t do anything in return. This was on the worst hotel experiences in my life.

Not given what I booked
I booked a room for 5 adults. When I arrived, they said there was no pull out couch for my 5th person and they could not bring me a roll away bed. I would have never booked if I knew there was not room for 5. If you let people book for 5, you need to have a room that accommodates that. I was not offered extra towel, bedding, a pillow...nothing. I slept on the floor and dried off with a hand towel. Very disappointing.

Please be aware
I have never been so scared in my life. I took a 4 minute walk from hotel to get a pizza. This is right next to the Methadone Mile, where homeless drug addicts hang out. Lots of crazy characters walking around the streets. And if that wasn't enough, Boston Medical is on other side so you hear sirens all night long, sounded as if our windows were open.

Everyone was very helpful and reassuring in these coronavirus days. Purel everywhere. A bit of a scary neighborhood on one side of the hotel, but they do a good job isolate in the hotel from that. Everything is geared toward the other side.
