Great hilltop retreat
We stayed for just one night in this hilltop hotel. Fantastic views across hills and valleys. The hotel itself is a little too big to feel personal but all the staff were lovely and helpful. The dinner was delicious. Not gourmet but very tasty and couldn't fault it. The room was comfortable and very clean. Overall a great place to stay

Fantastic hotel!
Highly recommended. Amazing location. Views over the valley to Barga have a real wow factor - get a room with a view & balcony, well worth the extra cost! Friendly service. Good food - including excellent buffet breakfast selection. Will be back sometime!

Knickers, but quite upmarket
Our two night stay in 12/13th August 2014 got off to a really poor start and we would have left had we not paid for it in advance. This hotel site is big, with a drive about 2 Km long from the entrance gate up to the hotel entrance. Once found, the reception staff were very good but the nature of the hotel site layout is counter intuitive and led us to some more confusion about simply finding our first allocated room in another building. Regrettably the previous occupier of our classic room must have been left feeling the draught somewhat as a pair of her panties was hanging on the inside of the bathroom door handle. We discussed it with the reception staff who suggested room 606 as a alternative on the sixth floor which was lovely with two very large comfortable single beds and had a huge shower. The breakfast buffet was good and although we had failed to pay in advance it was bordering on reasonable value for money. Evening meals in the Le Salette restaurant were served one meal outside and another under a verandah due to rain, both of the staff were brilliant and the food was excellent. Other facilities, like the indoor pool, appeared to be ok and secure, but remember to take a towel with you from your room as you could not apparently get one in the changing rooms. There are stunning views to be seen from many different internal and external vantage points but not from either of the classic rooms that we used. Car parking is a pain best left to the hotel staff to endure.

Great view, amazing location
I came here for business but had a great stay. The view was outstanding, food was great and the pool and gym were also a great treat. Will probably come again with my family. The hotel is great for star tours in Tuscany.

Nice but not quite as expected
The Renaissance Tuscany is set in the most beautiful surroundings, high up so you can see the whole valley. It's a slightly odd experience though. Underneath, the service is good (albeit slightly awkward in places) and people are genuinely kind. And the food was delicious. However, the building itself doesn't feel Italian at all - more like a sprawling, large-scale America resort rather than a sophisticated, boutique Italian experience. There are a lot of business travelers so the infrastructure (wifi, fitness, pool, spa) is good - but it just didn't marry up with our expectations or feel part of the countryside.
