Bitter disappointment
Hotel was adequate. Room was smaller than expected but clean. Noise coming from corridor was excessive especially on the weekend. We had no toilet roll,no face wipes and the conditioner bottle was empty all after the room had been cleaned. The biggest failing with this hotel is the staff. The cleaning staff were miserable and apart from make the beds didn’t seem to do anything else. The worse staff members were easily the front desk staff. Simple questions about parking about places to eat were meet with negative responses. We had no help with three suitcases and a ski bag. Overall I was extremely disappointed with the boxer as all the reviews had been so positive we really did believe we had picked a great hotel but sadly we did not.

Small room, good service
Room (703) a bit smaller than expected but good service and a good base for exploring Boston. Hotels.com indicated free bottled water in the room, but the hotel does not offer this. View from room was a bit bleak (concrete mental health centre).

Great stay at The Boxer Hotel
We had a great stay. Spent 3 nights. Walking distance to many sites. Took rides to Fenway & Harvard, otherwise we were on foot with no problem. Staff very friendly & accomodating. Clean, quiet, high end toiletries to the point we didn’t even use ours. Occasionally some slow service at the bar where “regulars” appeared to take priority. Thermostat is locked not allowing you to set lower than 65. I’m sure for some, not an issue, but we like to sleep in cooler room. All in all, was a great stay. Would stay again.

Mixed feelings
When we arrived, on August 19, the elevator was not working. When we left 3 days later, it still was not working. We are older and placed on Floor 2 (the lowest level available).. OK, but on the 2nd day our room had not been cleaned by 5pm, so our "stair trek" was multiplied. Up to see the unclean room, down to wait. etc. To be fair, we left Boston on a small cruise, came back and the hotel had ironed out the issues. The restaurant is excellent, and the staff was helpful.
