Good
The hotel is in a great location and has wonderful views of Tower Bridge and over St Katharine's Docks. The hotel is very basic, dated and in need of updating. It was reasonably clean. Overall appearance is that of a 3 star hotel. The highlight of the hotel was that we were allowed to check into our room early which was very appreciated. The staff were otherwise not particularly helpful or friendly. We attempted to have drinks in their new bar/restaurant Vicinity but found the staff unable to understand what we requested aka 'a table for drinks' and 'another beer'. We left after one drink each as the next round never arrived but still managed to make it onto our bill interestingly enough! The staff were very unaccommodating as we asked to sit in the section closest the river to which we were told it was closed, only for us to watch several other patrons continue to drink in this area for the entire time we stayed. There appears to be a huge issue with language barriers or possibly just non existent staff training. We then moved to the indoor bar which also has incredible views over Tower Bridge at night. However, the beers we received there were flat and undrinkable so we gave up and went to bed.

Ok til last day & Expedia wouldn't return call
Great until last day when coming home after leaving hotel at 6am for day excursion, took shower & cold water wouldn't work & couldn't rinse soap off except with scalding hot water. Then after 1 hour into sleep, the water turned on in shower & woke us up to find brown water coming out of shower & rising in toilet. Hotel mgmt refused our request to be moved to another room because we had to get to sleep for early 6am rise for our return flight saying same thing happening to all their rooms because pump to water tank had broken & all rooms affected. Turned out it didn't happen to our friends. In mirning, the concierge could not give me back my $20 deposit for electric converter as only his mgr could but he was not in yet so he found only give me my money in pounds which was useless as I was flying home now. He also stated was I the one causing the problem night before. Very rude even tho it may have been a language barrier as he was Indian. Need Better mgmt staff with responsibility to open cash box to return guests money!! Also, Expedia difficult to work with for simple name change to remove Sr. After name to match passport & license which caused me to have pay $2,000 for another ticket. I called 2 weeks before flight departure & had to keep calling as no one would return my call. Finally got through but too many days passed & cost of flight tripled. Bad service Expedia. Is this how you make your money!

Exceptional
Feet Away from the Tower Bridge
Absolutely gorgeous location, the front of the hotel faces the Thames and the Tower Bridge. Such a gorgeous view - morning, noon, and night. Unfortunately, our room didn't face the river. The room was beautiful and had a luxurious feel to it with complimentary bottles of still and bottled water, robes and slippers, and stone in the bathroom. Our windows were very high, so it was hard to peer out and see St. Katharine Docks below unless on tip-toe; but let in a lot of light! Which was great since the room was a bit dark, and there were black out curtains that snuffed out the lights during the night hours. We got in late and hadn't eaten - so room service was very convenient. Keep in mind not all the menu items are available 24 hours a day! Only the phone in the bathroom (not the two in the main room) worked, but the service was impeccable! The seal under the moveable glass on the shower was beginning to come loose, so some water did leak onto the floor, but otherwise the bathroom was large and gorgeous. The concierge staff was very helpful and kind enough to put up with our dozens of questions. The hallways a a bit confusing to navigate and there are many doors separating parts of the hotel. Also, twice, when I wanted to go downstairs, the lift available on my floor was open just an inch or two which seemed too sketchy to take and then I had to wait five to ten minutes for another.

Very good
room with a view
we had a few problems with the heating in this hotel but apart from that i would recommend this hotel. we checked into our room and paid a small increase for a room with a view and we weren't disappointed, the view of tower bridge was great and the room was lovely. however, it didn't take long to realise we had a problem, the room was far to warm. we tried turning the heating down but it was stuck at 27degrees, we informed the staff and we were brought a fan, not really the answer so they changed our room that night, the room they gave us also had a view of tower bridge but now we were also looking at a concrete wall from the bed, not acceptable, to make it worse we had the large air conditioning units right outside the window and they were very loud. next morning the staff changed our room again, this room had an amazing view of tower bridge, the best view so far, this room was not quite as nice as the first room but we were happy (i think our first room was one that had been upgraded recently) we were only staying 2 nights and had 3 rooms but throughout these problems with the room the staff were very helpful and sorted things out quickly. i would not hesitate to recommend this hotel as everything else was great. if you like your room a bit warm then it wouldn't be a problem but we like our rooms a little cooler. the staff, the food, the location are all great, definitely worth paying for a room with a view.

It's all about the view with this hotel
This was the first hotel my hubby and I stayed at for our European adventure. The hotel itself was not difficult to navigate to from the underground station. I want to say it was about a 6 to 8 min walk with the luggage. The hotel is right next to the Tower of London and the view from our room was of the Tower Bridge. The view at night was spectacular. Beyond the location and view though, the hotel is mediocre. The main issue was that the AC is not efficient . Our visit was the last weekend in Sept but it was still hot and humid outside. Our room was HOT and windows only open about an inch or two so there is no fresh air to be had. Plus the heavy drapes are positioned over the crack of window opening so there isn't a way to get the air in. I can only image what this room would feel like in July. There is a bath tub which is nice for Europe but weirdly when I took a bath (in cool water hahaha) I noticed that when you drain the tub there is a drain on the floor near the toilet and all the tub water started coming up through that drain onto the bathroom floor. I had to stop the tub and let it drain out a tiny bit at a time which took forever. The whole bathroom floor was soaked. The bed was really uncomfortable. I am not sure why and everyone has different taste so this may not be an issue for you. Overall the place looked and felt tired. Not bad but not great either. All in all, none of these things ruined my trip but I would stay somewhere else next time.
